Base Class: Fighter
Ghost-Faced Killer
From out of nothing the specter of death appears, an armored shadow, with death as a gift for his prey. In a flash of steel, life and limb are severed in a bloody arc. All around, screams of terror and shouts of fear erupt, as quaking hands draw blades to fight the masked murderer. His target dead, the ghost-faced killer walks calmly away as swords and fists pass harmlessly through his nearly transparent body. Whether his motivations were revenge, money, pleasure, or just chance, the end result is always the same. By delving into the otherworldly, he sought guidance from powers beyond their realm to reveal techniques to help achieve his desire. Striking a bargain in this search with those powers, he was granted the knowledge to achieve his bloody ends. Donning a supernatural mask of horror, the killer stalks the lands for his quarry, leaving only terror in their wake. A Ghost-Faced Killer uses his power to cultivate a culture of fear and dread. Only the foolish would try to cross him, ushering in their inevitable demise.
Mask of Dread
At 3rd level, the Ghost-Faced Killer crafts a frightful mask to hide his identity and imbued it with the supernatural power granted him by his otherworldly patrons. Due to the nature of this mask, his true visage can only be penetrated by truesight while donning it. Once per day, as an action, the Killer may cause ghastly greenish flames to erupt about his head for 1 minute. Creatures within 10 feet of him who can see the flames will perceive within them a reflection of that which terrifies them the most. They must succeed on a wisdom save (DC = 8 + ½ current level), or become shaken with fear, giving you advantage on attack rolls against them until they succeed on a save. A new save may be made at the start of each of the creature’s turns. If a creature makes its save, it cannot be affected again for 1 day (or 24 hours).
Sudden Strike
At 7th level your attunement to the supernatural has bolstered your senses allowing you to quickly identify your opponent’s weaknesses, violently slashing through their vital areas. When striking an opponent with the attack action, you may use your reaction to perceive their weakness by making a perception check against their AC. If successful, your first attack roll has advantage against that target this round. Additionally, when your attacks have advantage, they deal an additional 1d8 damage. This increases to 2d8 at 15th level.
Ghostly Spirit
By 10th level, your bargain with the netherworld allows you to manifest some of its attributes. You can see ethereal or invisible creatures and objects as easily as material ones. Additionally, you can perform a Ghostly Step. As a bonus action, you can become invisible for 1 minute. At 16th level, you may become ethereal when using this ability, instead of invisible. You must finish a long rest before you can perform another Ghostly Step.
Frightful Attack
At 15th level, you can channel the horror of the netherworld into a brutal attack, striking terror into the heart of your victims and onlookers. As an action, you may make a Frightful Attack. You must subtract 5 from the attack roll. If the attack hits, the creature must succeed on a wisdom save (DC = 8 + ½ current level) or take additional psychic damage equal to twice your level and be frightened for 1 minute. If successful, the creature takes only half the psychic damage. Also, hostile creatures within 30 feet who see the attack must make a wisdom save or become frightened for 1 round. You must finish a long rest before you may use this feature again.
Horrific Cleave
At 18th level, the power of your frightful attack can be leveraged into striking additional targets. If you slay a creature with your frightful attack, you may immediately make another attack against a creature within reach. If you have advantage on this attack, it becomes a frightful attack.
