Base Class: Monk
The meditations of your monk have brought them to consider what is known as the "weave" by arcanists. However, your contemplations have lead you to understand that this term derives from mortal attempts to relate a natural phenomenon to their own practices. This flow of knowledge and reality is more akin to a giant web. With this in mind you meditate upon the spider and as wizards imitate the natural flow of magic in their spellcasting, you will imitate the spider. Learning to keep your distance and constrain foes, move freely and leap further, craft tools and traps that aid you, and draw strength from those you defeat.
The Spider's Webs
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you have begun developing your techniques to keep foes at a distance or restrained using nets and your whip, making you proficient. Nets and whips also become Monk weapons for the purpose of your martial arts. Additionally as you have been crafting your first tool, called a grapple-shot and in addition to being proficient with this you gain proficiency with tinkerer's tools. Your use of the grapple-shot develops with your martial arts. With this you can:
- Halt your fall with a reaction (rolling at disadvantage);
- Utilize it to swing up in a 60 feet cone, with a speed of 30 feet while unencumbered with a bonus action;
- Attack an enemy and force them to make a Strength Saving Throw or be Grappled with an attack action.
Ascendant Arachnid
At 6th level, you gain the ability to climb sheer surfaces by channelling ki and imitate an arachnid's climbing, additionally you can now calculate jump distance with Dexterity or Wisdom. Step of the Wind causes your climbing speed to effect ceilings also and triples your jump distance. Additionally, you have observed how various spiders utilize needle like hairs to injure predators and gain distance, developing the Far Shot technique which can be considered an Unarmed Strike for bonus attacks and Flurry of Blows. Furthermore, your study of web has allowed you to create a method of producing strong nets by channelling your ki into them while making these weapons (Ki-Nets cost 5sp and 4 hours to make). Finally, to extend the range of your nets you have developed a secondary attachment to the Grapple-Shot which is your Net-Shot, increasing the range and providing enough force to cause damage.
Grasping Webs
Beginning at 11th level, the control you gain over your ki has allowed you to emulate a spider sat in its burrow. Your ki can spread in fine drifting wires past your body and examine your environment through this technique as well as recede, so long as you possess a single ki point. Additionally, this control allows you to paralyze enemies you hit with unarmed strikes at the cost of your ki points, mimicking an Arachnid in rare close combat. Finally you can craft Ki-Cobweb Mines, akin to the traps of aforementioned burrowing arachnids. These contain compacted fibres imbued with ki (2gp and 8 hours of labour for each mine), and can be remotely detonated by expending ki points.
Arachnid's Ascendancy
At 17th level, your mastery over ki manipulation to slow and restrain your enemies allows you to manifest the aura of blindsight into nets and fibres of ki. You achieve a near flawless imitation of a spider in their web, able to create and sustain your Dominion through a sacrifice of ki.
Furthermore, whenever enemies perish in while grappled or restrained by your ki you can restore yourself. Using your Spider's Feast technique whenever something dies while constrained by your ki you can regain both ki and hit points.
