Monk
Base Class: Monk

In the windswept isles, life often depends on your ability to fight, and more importantly your ability to end fights. Iron Grip Monks are trained by their mentors to block incoming attacks, disarm their opponents, and shut down further attacks, whether by knocking the opponent unconscious, or breaking their limbs. After all, you can't fight if you can't lift your sword.

Iron Grip Technique

When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you learn techniques that are powered by your ki.

Techniques. You learn two techniques of your choice, which are detailed under “Techniques” below. Many techniques enhance an attack in some way. You can use only one technique per attack.

You learn one additional technique of your choice at 7th, 10th, and 15th level. Each time you learn new techniques, you can also replace one technique you know with a different one.

Binding Strike

You can spend 1 ki point to make a grapple check as a bonus action. While you have a creature grappled, you can make flurry of blows attacks and unarmed strikes against them at no penalty.

Brutal Shove

Whenever you hit a creature with one of the attacks granted by your Flurry of Blows you can spend 1 ki point, and the target must make a Strength saving throw. If it fails, you can push it 15 feet in any direction, or up to half of your movement. If there is an immovable object (tree, wall, boulder) within range, you can push the target into it, and it takes 1d10 bludgeoning damage. For every additional 10 feet you push the creature, add 5 to the damage.

Deflect Blades

You can spend 1 ki point, and use your reaction to deflect or catch a weapon when you are hit by a melee weapon attack. When you do so, your AC increases by 2.

If this causes the attack to miss, you can attempt to disarm your opponent if you have at least one hand free. Your opponent must make a Concentration saving throw against your ki save DC. If it fails, you can disarm it and take its weapon.

If you disarm a weapon in this way, you can spend 2 ki points to make a melee attack with the weapon you just caught or an unarmed strike, as part of the same reaction. You make this attack with proficiency, regardless of your weapon proficiencies, and the weapon counts as a monk weapon for the attack.

Leg Sweep

Whenever you make an attack granted by Flurry of Blows, in place of one unarmed strike you can instead make the target roll a Dexterity saving throw. If it fails, it is knocked prone.

Oblique Strike

Whenever you make an unarmed strike, you can spend 1 ki point to feint and make the attack at advantage.

Prone Fighting

When you are knocked prone you can use your reaction and spend 2 ki points to counter some of the effects of the prone condition. Attacks made against you at melee range do not have advantage, and you do not have disadvantage on your melee attacks. This effect ends when you stand up.

Violent Disarm

Whenever you hit a creature with one of the attacks granted by Flurry of Blows you can spend 1 ki point and the target must make a Constitution saving throw. If it fails it must drop its weapon.

Inflict Injury

Starting at 6th level, whenever you hit a stunned creature with an unarmed attack, you can spend 2 ki points to add your Wisdom modifier to the damage until the end of your turn. If you crit against a stunned creature, you inflict a lingering injury.

Skin of Iron

Starting at 11th level, you can spend a bonus action to focus your ki into your skin. You become resistant to nonmagical damage for 10 minutes, and you have Advantage on Grapple checks. Once this special action is used, it can't be used again until you take a short rest.

Cheol's Hand

At 17th level, you learn to channel the Spirit of the Great Iron Titan, turning your enemy's ki against them. Stunning Strike no longer costs you a ki point to activate. In addition to the effects of being Stunned, the creature automatically fails Wisdom and Constitution saving throws.

Additionally, you can spend 2 ki points to impose disadvantage on the target for their Constitution saving throw.
