Base Class: Rogue
The tale of the arcane lancer begins centuries ago with a wizard. He strove for efficiency and ease of use in magic, and pioneered many styles of magic along the way, but in the end, he rejected them all. At the end of his wits, he then discovered... the Lancer Glyph. It activated latent magical potential and allowed the bearer to project their magic in a shot of elemental energy. He went on to expand it into defensive areas as well. But then, a band of rogues caught wind of his magical exploits, broke into his tower, and made off with a scroll of the glyphs.
The band of rogues went on to become even more successful than before. Thanks to the glyphs with they now bore, they were able to detect magical danger, had heightened reactions, and were able to strike from afar without the use of traditional weapons. They became wealthy enough to become a full-fledged guild, and came to be known as Arcane Lancers. Though unable to further develop the glyphs, the guild was able to train new rogues in their use successfully.
It may be that you were marked with a glyph long ago and only now know its power, or that you sought out the Arcane Lancers after hearing of their deeds of daring- but in any case, the glyph you now bear is set to propel you on adventures you could previously only dream of. Your Lancer Glyph grows and expands over time as you master it, becoming more ornate and personalized as the magic it awakens and empowers is heightened. It also gives a limited ability to cast spells, drawing on your innate capabilities to shape magic outside of traditional methods. For many Arcane Lancers their glyph is a point of pride, keeping it uncovered even when it may not be best to do so, or using its base form as embroidery on their clothes. Still others are more secretive, only unveiling their glyph as a last resort. How you treat it is up to you, but a Lancer Glyph in action is always sure to draw attention.
Spellcasting
When you reach 3rd level, your Lancer Glyph bestows the ability to cast spells. It activates and enhances magic, which must then be focused with the intellect. See Spells Rules for the general rules of spellcasting and the Spells Listing for the Sorcerer spell list.
Cantrips
You learn three cantrips of your choice from the Sorcerer spell list. You learn another Sorcerer cantrip of your choice at 10th level.
Spell Slots
The Arcane Lancer Spellcasting table shows how many spell slots you have to cast your Sorcerer spells of 1st level and higher. To cast one of these spells, you must expend a slot of the spell’s level or higher. You regain all expended spell slots when you finish a long rest.
For example, if you know the 1st-level spell charm person and have a 1st-level and a 2nd-level spell slot available, you can cast charm person using either slot.
Spells Known of 1st-Level and Higher
You know three 1st-level Sorcerer spells of your choice.
The Spells Known column of the Arcane Lancer Spellcasting table shows when you learn more Sorcerer spells of 1st level or higher. Each of these spells must be of a level for which you have spell slots. For instance, when you reach 7th level in this class, you can learn one new spell of 1st or 2nd level.
Spellcasting Ability
Intelligence is your spellcasting ability for your Sorcerer spells, since you learn your spells through dedicated study and memorization. You use your Intelligence whenever a spell refers to your spellcasting ability. In addition, you use your Intelligence modifier when setting the saving throw DC for a wizard spell you cast and when making an attack roll with one.
Spell save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Intelligence modifier
Spell attack modifier = your proficiency bonus + your Intelligence modifier

Lancer Glyph
You can activate your Lancer Glyph to shoot enemies with magical energy. Glyph damage is permanent choice of Fire, Lightning, Radiant, or Cold. The glyph is a catalyst that stimulates both your mind and body, giving you advantage on Initiative and on Dexterity saving throws against effects you can see.
Blazing Glyph
Lancer Glyph damage becomes Fire.
Freezing Glyph
Lancer Glyph damage becomes Cold.
Shining Glyph
Lancer Glyph damage becomes Radiant.
Shocking Glyph
Lancer Glyph damage becomes Lightning.
Glyph Empowerment
Your Lancer Glyph has taken on a new form, becoming more ornate and enhancing your precision. You have +2 to ranged spell attack rolls, ignore partial cover and partially obscured spaces with ranged spell attacks, and take no penalty to attacking prone targets. Can use Sneak Attack on Lancer Glyph if hidden from the target or if an ally of yours is adjacent to it.
Sigil Guard
You've learned how to harness some of the power of your expanded Lancer Glyph to form shields to protect you the crossfire of hectic battles, and to impart some resistance to large scale attacks. Gain +2 bonus to AC and Resistance to damage from spells or effects you weren't targeted by for a round after using a ranged spell or weapon attack.
Warding Emblem
Now fully matured, your Lancer Glyph gives you a supernatural awareness and arcane acumen, glowing in the presence of other magic. You have advantage on WIS saving throws against effects you can see, and are always under the effects of a Detect Magic spell. You can use your Lancer Glyph to cast the Light cantrip on yourself without material components when it is unobscured.

Posted Aug 4, 2021Nice idea, but there are two major problems:
1. You do not specify how much damage Lancer Glyph does, only the type of damage.
2. What levels do you gain the subclass features at?
