Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

Some warriors remember the Old Strength, the ancient power wielded by their ancestors for generations before it was forgotten, lost for centuries. Those that do remember channel magical power through an ancient arcane ritual that expands the potential of the soul in the heat of emotion, resulting in a terrifying martial and magical threat on the battlefield.

Rage Casting

At 3rd level, you’ve gained the ability to harness the magic of the Old Strength during your rage. See chapter 10 of the PHB for the general rules of spellcasting and chapter 11 of the Player’s Handbook for the Sorcerer spell list.

Multiclassing

When you multiclass with this subclass and adding together your spellcasting classes to determine the number of spell slots you have, you add one-third of your Barbarian levels (rounded down) to that number.

Soul Expansion

You can cast spells gained from this feature while raging, you can only cast spells gained from this feature while you’re raging, and you can add a bonus to any damage roll for a spell you cast, as shown on the Rage Damage column on the Barbarian table. When your rage ends, so does your concentration on any spells you were concentrating on. In addition, your rage doesn’t end early when you haven’t attacked a hostile creature since your last turn or taken damage since then if you’ve cast a spell since that turn began.

Cantrips

You learn two cantrips of your choice from the sorcerer spell list. You learn an additional sorcerer cantrip of your choice at 10th level.

Spell Slots

The Rage Casting table shows how many spell slots you have to cast your spells of 1st level and higher. To cast one of these spells, you must expend a slot of the spell's level or higher. You regain all expended spell slots when you finish a long rest.

For example, if you know the 1st-level spell shield and have a 1st-level and a 2nd-level spell slot available, you can cast shield using either slot.

Spells Known of 1st Level and Higher

You know three 1st-level sorcerer spells of your choice, two of which you must choose from the transmutation and evocation spells on the sorcerer spell list.

The Spells Known column of the Rage Casting table shows when you learn more sorcerer spells of 1st level or higher. Each of these spells must be an conjuration or evocation spell of your choice, and must be of a level for which you have spell slots. For instance, when you reach 7th level in this class, you can learn one new spell of 1st or 2nd level.

The spells you learn at 8th, 14th, and 20th level can come from any school of magic.

Whenever you gain a level in this class, you can replace one of the sorcerer spells you know with another spell of your choice from the sorcerer spell list. The new spell must be of a level for which you have spell slots, and it must be an abjuration or evocation spell, unless you're replacing the spell you gained at 3rd, 8th, 14th, or 20th level from any school of magic.

Spellcasting Ability

Constitution is your spellcasting ability for your sorcerer spells, since you learn your spells through study and memorization. You use your Constitution whenever a spell refers to your spellcasting ability. In addition, you use your Constitution modifier when setting the saving throw DC for a sorcerer spell you cast and when making an attack roll with one.

Spell save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier

Spell attack modifier = your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier

Soul-Empowered Attacks

At 6th level, you have the ability to channel the Old Strength into your every strike. While you’re raging, your weapon attacks count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage. In addition, when you hit a creature that is currently concentrating on a spell with an attack in this way, that creature has disadvantage on the saving throw to maintain concentration.

Resilience of the Soul

Beginning at 10th level, you gain the understanding of and resilience against all magic that was possessed by the ancients. While you’re raging, you have resistance to force damage and advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Tap the Soul

Starting at 14th level, you’ve mastered your ability to expand your soul’s potential and tap into its unlimited power. Whenever you expend a spell slot to cast a spell of 1st level or higher, you can expend a use of your rage to increase the level of the spell by 1 without raising the level of spell slot expended.
