
Due to some combination of terrible life choices, either yours or someone else's (or perhaps a mishmash of both), you have become addicted to a drug. Using the drug gives plenty of benefits, but also gets you hooked on it. Not using the drug can ease your addiction, but hurts you in the short term.
Using Your Drug. Using your drug of choice is a gamble. It provides many benefits, however with smart use you can balance your addiction and bonuses. For every 5 days of using the drug, your addiction level raises by 1. Your addiction level determines how many doses of your drug you must take to avoid the effects of withdrawal. Using multiple doses at once, whether to keep up with your addiction or simply for shits and giggles, you must roll that many times for the effects you enjoy or suffer.
"I can stop any time I want!" - It would be easier to list every drug user who hasn't said this at some point.
Addiction Levels.
- Level 1 Addiction - Requires 1 dose every morning. Roll once for effects. Requires 1 day of withdrawal to remove all traces of addiction.
- Level 2 Addiction - Requires 2 doses every morning. Roll twice for effects. Requires 2 days of withdrawal to return to Level 1.
- Level 3 Addiction - Requires 3 doses every morning. Roll three times for effects. Requires 3 days of withdrawal to return to Level 2.
- Level 4 Addiction - Requires 4 doses every morning. Roll four times for effects. Requires 4 days of withdrawal to return to level 3.
- Level 5 Addiction - Requires 5 doses every morning. Roll five times for effects. Requires 5 days of withdrawal to return to level 4. WARNING: Remaining at Level 5 for more than 5 days will result in the DEATH of your character.
Effects of Using.
- Roll 1 d20 for every dose of the drug you have taken.
- 1 | 2 negative effects.
- 2-5 | 1 negative effect.
- 6-15 | 1 positive effect.
- 16-20 | 2 positive effects.
Effects of Withdrawal.
- Roll 1 d20 for every dose of the drug you have skipped.
- 1 | 2 positive effects.
- 2-5 | 1 positive effect.
- 6-15 | 1 negative effect.
- 16-20 | 2 negative effects.
Positive Effect Table.
Roll 1 d10 per effect you have accrued. Each effect lasts until the end of the day. Reroll on repeated results.
- One ability score of your choice is raised by 2, as determined by your GM.
- You gain advantage on rolls for 3 skills, as determined by your GM.
- Your AC is increased by 2 for the day.
- Your movement speed is increased by 10 feet for the day.
- Roll 1d4 with every attack you make today. On a 4, your attack deals an additional amount of damage equal to your level.
- Roll 1d8 with every attack you make today. On an 8, you may take 1 more action this turn, regardless of how many you have or have not yet taken.
- Roll 1d4 every time damage is dealt to you from any source. On a 4, reduce that damage by half.
- You feel strangely full, and do not need to eat or drink today, suffering no consequences.
- Whenever one of your melee, ranged, or spell attacks hits, a random effect from the Thaumaturgy cantrip happens, as determined by your GM.
- Your voice booms up to three times as loud as normal for 1 minute.
- Flames around you within 30 feet flicker, brighten, dim, or change color for 1 minute.
- Harmless tremors shake the ground for 1 minute.
- An instantaneous sound originates from a random point within 30 feet.
- An unlocked door or window flies open or slams shut.
- Your eyes change appearance for 1 minute.
- Reroll.
Negative Effect Table.

- You gain disadvantage on rolls for 3 skills, as determined by your GM.

- Roll 1d4 with every attack you make today. On a 4, your attack deals half damage.
- Roll 1d8 with every attack you make today. On an 8, you must take 1 less action on your next turn. This may reduce your number of actions to zero.
- Roll 1d4 every time damage is dealt to you from any source. On a 4, increase that damage by an amount equal to your level.
- You feel strangely ravenous, and must eat and drink twice as much today as you usually would.
- Whenever one of your melee, ranged, or spell attacks hits, flip a coin. On heads, you drop your weapon.
- Reroll.
