
Prerequisite: Requires a Dexterity score of 13 or higher
The whip is a tricky weapon to use, but you have spent countless hours mastering it. You gain the following 2 whip maneuvers. You can only attempt one maneuver per turn regardless of whether it succeeds or fails.
- When you take the attack action, you can aim for the target's wrist and attempt to make them drop what they are holding in that hand. If you hit, the target must succeed on a Strength saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength or Dexterity modifier) or drop what they are holding to their feet.
- When you take the attack action, you can aim for a target's ankle and attempt to make them trip. When you do so, make an attack roll against the creature. On a hit the target must succeed on a Strength saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength or Dexterity modifier) or be knocked prone.
In addition, your expertise allows you to hinder retreating enemies.
- When you make an opportunity attack with a whip, you choose to aim for an enemy’s leg, thus throwing them off balance. When you successfully land an opportunity attack with a whip, the target’s movement speed is halved until the start of their next turn.
Finally, you gain a +1 bonus to attack rolls you make with the weapon.
