Whip Extraordinaire Image
Prerequisite: Requires Dexterity of 13 or higher and proficiency with a whip.

Your talent and ingenuity with a whip are unrivaled. You gain the following benefits:

  • A whip has the Light property in your hands.
  • You can [Tooltip Not Found] to wrap the hilt of a Light melee weapon you are proficient with to the end of a whip, granting the Wrapped property to both weapons, physically linking them. You can also [Tooltip Not Found] to remove the Wrapped property from both weapons, unlinking them. A Wrapped weapon cannot have more than one weapon linked to it at any given time and both weapons cannot be whips.
  • While a weapon has the Wrapped property, it is also granted the Reach, Heavy, and Two-Handed properties. A Wrapped weapon adds an additional 5 feet on top of that added from Reach. Attacks with a Wrapped weapon require two hands no matter which Wrapped weapon is used for the attack; the Light weapon is swung while the whip is held. Attacks made with a Wrapped weapon add the damage die of the other Wrapped weapon to the attack, deal the damage type of the Light weapon, and don't benefit from any magical effects of the other Wrapped weapon.
  • Wrapped weapon with the Thrown property has its bonus reach added to its normal and long range. When a Wrapped weapon is thrown, both the whip and the Light weapon are unlinked and lose the Wrapped property at the end of the attack.
  • When using a whip as a part of the check, you have advantage on Athletics and Acrobatics checks.
  • When using a whip as a part of the action, the additional reach from Reach also applies to [Tooltip Not Found]. A Wrapped weapon cannot be used to [Tooltip Not Found].
  • Melee attacks with a whip or Wrapped weapon have advantage against Prone creatures regardless of distance.
  • You can use a melee attack with a whip or Wrapped weapon to attempt to knock a target down. You make an attack roll contested by the target’s Strength (Athletics) check or Dexterity (Acrobatics) check. If you win the contest, the attack causes no damage and you knock the target ProneThe target has advantage on its ability check if it is larger than you, or disadvantage if it is smaller.

Optional Rules:

  • If you successfully Disarm an opponent, you can [Tooltip Not Found] to pull the weapon or item to your free hand. These can only be pulled if the weapon has the Light property and you are proficient with it or the item is smaller than you.
