We have occasional guests in our DND games, so I decided to create a random character (level 11 fighter, to keep it simple) for a guest to play. However, the random characters were AWFUL!!! They were far worse than pre-gens.
Example 1: A level 11 human variant fighter with 11 dex and 12 str, and the feat Svirfneblin Magic (for a human!?!?) But it had a decent Cha.
Keep in mind that a level 11 fighter has 3 ASIs. Does this mean that every ASI was wasted? Or did the fighter start out with 6 str?
Example 2: A level 11 human variant fighter with 17 dex, but single digit scores for almost every other stat, and some were quite low. Stats were far lower than initial point buy, with no more than 11 in any stat (if all 3 ASIs went to dex).
Example 3: A level 11 human variant fighter with 20 dex, 5 str (you can't even have 5 str according to standard game rules!) and the grapper feat, which is based on the athletics skill, which was -3 for this character.
There's a lot I like about DND Beyond, but this is absurd. Why can't the system quick build higher level characters that are decent, at least on par with standard array and sensible ASIs? As is, the random character generator is a waste.
The team will be implementing quick build options for level 1-20 though. Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to run a campaign on random builds...

Sorry if this issue has been mentioned elsewhere.
Random is just that, completely random. :D
