I've noticed that items that have limited charges, like the Staff of Swarming Insects, can use charges but there doesn't seem to be any way to recharge them short of deleting the item from my character's inventory and adding a new one.

The majority of magical items regain a random number of charges (e.g. 1d3+1) so you need to roll for that and manually adjust the number of charges on the character sheet.
