I'm having an issue finding and adding the 2014 version of the Necklace of Adaptation. I went to the Magic Item search under Game Rules, put in Source: Dungeon Master's Guide (2014), and it still only displays the 2024 version.
Intentional. The 2014 entry was removed and replaced by the 2024 entry. It's part of the free rules, so you still have access without buying anything. It was pointless to have both entries because the effect remains exactly the same but the 2024 text is clearer.
Original:
While wearing this necklace, you can breathe normally in any environment, and you have advantage on saving throws made against harmful gases and vapors (such as cloudkill and stinking cloud effects, inhaled poisons, and the breath weapons of some dragons).
New:
While wearing this necklace, you can breathe normally in any environment, and you have Advantage on saving throws made to avoid or end the Poisoned condition.
It was pointless to list things like "harmful gases and vapors" because the only harmful ones that exist in D&D are poison, the only way an environment was harmful to your breathing was via poison, the only breath weapon it helped against was poison breath. The original did nothing for poison damage, it was to avoid being poisoned by toxic gases. So this was all useless text when "to avoid or end the poisoned condition" achieved the same thing but with clearer, less ambigous, text.

Why take out that one while keeping other legacy magic items? The games I play in aren't ready to transition to 2024, so we still use 2014 versions of items.
In addition, the necklace of adaptation (2014) only protects against inhaled poisons, not other kinds. If a GM wishes to keep it at that (since it's all about breathing) and not include injected, touched, swallowed, etc., then the other should still be available.
Oh, and it should be pointed out that a GM could include smoky areas as being "harmful gasses and vapors" without it being poisonous.
I'd say that the original had a point, and at the very least still has a place for people who still play by the 2014 ruleset.

This is why I can't stand that they called it 5e 2024.
It's confusing.
Is it an update? Officially, yes.
Is it an edition? Not fully.
Also, a LOT of legacy named poisons haven't been ported forward.
Especially if they came from a module..
I want to ask:Is it a specific legacy poison(s), actually poisoning some entity, the item focusing too much on Poison elimination vs gases(Your example of which is DM Fiat in function unless otherwise stated by wherever it's drawing from), or just a very specific desire to have 2014 content for the sake of having 2014 content?
(I'm genuinely curious, as I've been jotting down stuff like this for a future feedback entry should they add back the "other comments" section)

I was giving reasons why they aren't the same or the 2024 version simply being a clarification. Honestly, the reason why I want the 2014 version is because that's what we play still. We haven't switched over partially because we are in the middle of campaigns and aren't willing/able to change at this point.
Once those are done, we will consider switching. I still don't understand, however, why other legacy magic items are there, but this one is missing. I can make a homebrew item, but it still wouldn't answer the question of why it was left out.

Is this a bug or intentional?
