a player in one of my campaigns had trouble seeing his spells when he was using a home brew weapon I had created. I let him change weapons so he could see his spells and I am wondering what I would need to change on the home brew weapon in order for him to be able to use it and see his spells.
modifier: Does additional lightning damage on every hit equal to 4d6 + dex bonus.
modifier: Grants proficiency and expertise with Longbow, adding dex bonus to the total.
condition: the [condition]paralyzed[condition] condition is applied automatically for one round (no information on who or what to).
Spell: the spell Chain Lightning is available and can be cast by using between 1 and 5 charges, with a save DC of 15. No cast level specified.
Of those - potential issues are:
3. This is very odd and I wouldn't be surprised if it causes some problems. Twice proficiency works like expertise (except it grants the proficiency if the character doesn't have it). Also, adding the dex bonus to attack rolls with longbow means the attack roll would be + (2x dex bonus) + (2x proficiency).
5. The spell that's added uses charges, but the item isn't configured to have charges (these are set-up in the "additional information" section). This may well have an odd interaction with the spells section of the sheet, as you have an ability that costs 1-5 out of zero charges. This is probably the first place to start.

Can you link the homebrew item?

when I first made this the player wanted a bow with either a +1 or +2 to attacks and how do I add that?
