My campaign has certain weapons that get upgraded using gems. I am struggling to get them reflected in the character sheets.
I created a wondrous item that adds +1 bonus to damage and +1 bonus to attack rolls using the modifier section of the item creation tool. Those bonuses don't show up when I equip the wondrous item.
If it is an upgrade to specific weapons then players can customise the weapon when they get a gem to increase the magic bonus.

There would not be a way to assign one item to another in order to give it an effect. Players could customize the item as Cyb3rM1nd suggests, or make a homebrew copy of their item to add whatever benefit they have granted from the gem-item. :)

That's my current workaround. I was hoping to avoid tinkering with the items too much.
Thanks!
I didn't know they could modify the items. Thanks!
