Hello I am a DM and my players are getting close to level 20 but they don't want to give up on their current characters yet. At one point it was mentioned that early version of dnd had levels beyond 20. When I looked these up I found out about epic boons. I looked this up in dnd beyond and found the section on epic boons but when I created a level 20 character to see how it would work, I couldn't find anything about how to show epic boons on a character sheet does anyone know how to do this. And if it isn't possible on dnd beyond do you know if they plan on adding it later on in an update or something.?
Epic Boons aren't hardcoded in because they're completely optional not a main rule (the main rule is you don't progress or get anything more at Level 20), even if considered they're purely at DM's grace, and can be easily simulated by just homebewing a feat to achieve the effect then adding it to the character.
It would be a lot of coding and work to add something you can already do and for something that very, very, rarely ever occurs in games (few games make it to 20, fewer still use the boons).
It would be a nice feature, I do agree, but I don't see this being added, at least not for a very long time, as the devs are very busy with a lot of other, more useful, additions.

Epic Boons and Blessings are something that we are planning to implement as part of the general features enhancement.
As always, I am unable to share an ETA, but it is short term.

For now the work around is usually to try to create them as a feat and add them manually.
