There is no Ammunition weapon type in the homebrew creator.
For years people have been asking for a ammunition weapon type in the homebrew creator so we can make our own arrows, bolts so on. This seems more like someone simpily forgot to put it in, and no one ever came back to fix it. Please Fix this bug so we can make amunitions and keep track of our homebrew items, like arrows, this is a major friction piece in a lot of campaigns i play.
It seems VERY simple to fix, and would go a long way to make the game smoother and us players very happy.
please let me know if there are any specific reasons this isn't being fixed.
Has there really been no one else but us 2 that have come across this issue? You can use +1 bolts as a base item to make a homebrew item with, but even if you change nothing, you can't save it because the base item breaks its own rules - it has to have a 'base weapon type' selected, and ammunition types aren't options. It's not a Heavy Crossbow, or a Light Crossbow, or a Hand Crossbow - its ammunition for ANY crossbow. I simply want to make some bolts that add cold damage in addition to being +1. Doesn't seem like a huge ask.
I would also like to know what the specific reasons are this hasn't been addressed - not enough votes and/or complaints? It shouldn't require a lot of complaints, the logic to the request is blatantly obvious. I know enough about coding and website development where I could do it for you in a couple hours.
The issue has been brought up before like 4+ years ago without being addressed. The best explanation i can come up with is that the current system was done by the original owners of DNDbeyond and their team close to them being bought. But the new owners dont seem to have the same direction in mind for the site, certainly put less effort in listening to us and maintaining older systems. So i dont think its on their agenda to fix small old bugs, and i dont think the current team even knows how…. Even though it seems like it would be incredibly simple to fix.
I personally make “ammunition” as potions, which works alright, still breaks emersion a bit and stops a few options, but its the best we got.
WOW - I mean.... really? You think it's that lame? What am I talking about, it's the middle of the stupid ages, of course it's that lame. But I mean I'm paying them, and HAVE paid them, a LOT of money. And they just.. what... can't be bothered right now because it's not in their specific vision for the site? What vision is that I wonder?
The fact that they can't even be bothered to RESPOND with a logical reason for why this is still not addressed is frankly not acceptable for a Paid-for service. This kind of crap makes me want to pack it up here and move over to Roll20.
It's a low priority because you can already make custom ammo directly on your sheet, more than easily enough. While adding a "homebrew tool" version would be nice, it is not necessary. So, when it comes to "what we should spend money on" and "what our devs should be doing" discussions making "a very slightly more convenient way to do something everyone can already do in seconds" is not really going to make the list.

How exactly do you make a custom ammo on your sheet that does an extra 1d4 cold damage against a given type of creature? Are you talking about custom items? That's the same things as just using your imagination. Being able to imagine the item being so isn't the same thing as using the digital service we've signed up for and have paid a lot for.
EDIT: Besides, there is actually more than a minor qualitative difference to telling the players in your campaign one of the following things:
Scenario 1:"Hey - you got 20 arrows of frost +1 - go ahead and right that in on the custom item section of your sheet under items, and I'll just trust that you're using them when you say you are, ticking their number down, and remembering to add the extra +1 to hit and the extra +1d4 + 1 damage."
Scenario 2: I've added 20 arrows of frost + 1 to your inventory - they work automatically.
Scenario 2 is a CRAP ton more preferable than scenario one.

Custom item to track inventory.
Custom action to roll damage when applicable.

Blame C-Suite.
They almost certainly fired the old team to keep paying the Sigil team and themselves.
It isn't the mods, admins or anyone without power in the corporate ladder's fault.
