Can you be a little more specific? Which class features? And did you mean subclass features?
Spells to cast? Shield, Heroism, Aid, Haste
Spells to use for Spelling Storing item? I never did figure out a "best" spell to store. The Battlesmith should be casting "Axe" which doesn't require a spell slot.
Infusions?: Mixed offense and defense
Flash of Genius? Depends, if you are getting hit with lots of spells, reserve for Savings Throws. Mostly attacks, use FoG on ability checks.
Steel Defender? Minimum damage is better than Branding Smite. Damage scales with Proficiency Bonus, so it will eventually exceed Branding Smite.
Also, is this about getting the Steel Defender to show correctly in D&D Beyond? Been there, failed at that. It seems like it should be available as an "Extra" but doesn't seem to load correctly. The fly outs are there, but I've never tried showing a Steel Defender in D&D Beyond Maps or other VTT as a DM. None of my online players run a Battlesmith, and I haven't had an in-person player run a Battlesmith yet.
I ran a Battlesmith as a player for an in-person campaign that finished up at level 11 back in December.
I used the Steel Defender something like a dog. "Guard", "Defend", "Attack", and "Fetch" were commands I used.
You want to make a subclass themed around being a blacksmith? How does that translate to play, as I'm pretty sure you aren't going to be just running a blacksmith as your adventure?

Can anyone help me with some class features?

I meant subclass features, and I already have one about forging gear.
