I was tinkering with a Tempest Cleric and found that the spell list felt weird in a couple of places. Also, the constant issue with all of the abilities being tied to lightning but only one lightning spell feels really off. I get that the Thunderous Strike (which doesn't key off of Thunder damage) is intended to enhance Wrath of the Storm. I just feel, like many, that it looses an opportunity to feel more integrated. I have read a bunch of people applying Lightning and Thunder to Thunderous Strike which is obviously much better keying off of the Wrath of the Storm special and their version of Divine Strike. With out the abuse of adding Booming Blade, that change does feel better.
I also felt that the spell list lacked the feeling of the storm, which is probably due to the time it was released and official available spells. I still do not feel that lightning bolt is a good spell for the list, but there are some other spells which are more in line with the theme of control that do not have a sudden power spike. I added Storm Sphere to give the build another Lightning option, plus that spell reads like it was made for a Tempest Cleric. Also changed that weird Insect Plague to Maelstrom which also feels like a much more solid fit. I know Destructive Wave is a cool spell, but it also seems a bit off. I am just unsure what else fits.
1st Fog Cloud, Thunderwave 3rd Gust of Wind, Shatter 5th Call Lightning, Sleet Storm 7th Control Water, Storm Sphere 9th Destructive Wave, Maelstrom
Any comments or ideas for overpowered or underpowered affects?
Thanks.

IMHO, Earthdawn is still the best fantasy realm, Shadowrun is the best Sci-Fi realm, and Dark Sun is the best D&D realm.
All you're doing is changing out which spells are prepared, you're not adding or removing the total number, and for the most part spells of the same level are ROUGHLY equal in power (obviously with the caveat of some exceptions), so I think overall thematically the new list makes sense and the power in a vacuum is roughly the same.
Cool, that is what I was asking for. I was not sure if there was some interaction that was out of wack. I also was not sure if allowing Thunderous Strike be used on Lightning and Thunder would lead to any funky interactions.
