My husband used to play DnD way back when, and we are going to start playing 5e with our children.
He has decided that the new rules are a bit more complicated and can't work out if his lv1 cleric (18wisdom) tries to turn a zombie undead, what does the zombie need to roll as a saving throw. And then what about a skeleton? If anyone can explain the maths to this mere mortal I'd really appreciate it.
Turn Undead is a Channel Divinity effect, which clerics get at Level 2, so his Level 1 cleric can't even do it yet. But if he could, the way it works is this:
Use your action to Turn Undead
Each undead that can see or hear you within 30 feet of you must make a Wisdom saving throw.
(any creature that is creature type: undead would roll a d20 and add its wisdom modifier -- for a skeleton that would be d20-1, for a zombie that's d20-2)
the DC is the cleric's spell save DC (8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier) (let's say your Level 2 cleric has 18 WIS: 8+2+4 = DC 14)
If their roll is equal to or higher than the cleric's spell save DC, they succeed. If their roll is less than your DC, they fail
If the undead creature succeeds on the roll, nothing happens
If the undead creature fails on the roll, it is turned for 1 minute (10 rounds of combat) or until it takes any damage, from anyone/anything
Hi everyone

Thanks
