im thinking of multicalssing my forge cleric with a fiend warlock to get access to some of the more thematically fitting spells, just looking for some advice or tips on whether or not this is a good fit?
im looking for spells like fireball, scorching ray things of that nature 🤔 or maybe there’s a way to get these through a feat?
Thematically I would have thought a cleric making a pact with a devil is likely to casue issues with their God.
You would need 5 levels to get fireball (and 3 to get scorching ray) in a class that doesn't really mesh well with cleric and you would be casting them using Charisma as your casting stat (I assume you have at least 13 charisma to consider a warlock multi class but it should be well below your Wisdom.
The theme you are looking for look more like light cleric to me. Forge clerics serve the gods of metal working and while there is obviously some fire in that it is more about heating metal than throwing fire over long distances. Light Clerics serve Gods of fire and light and they do have access to scorching ray and fireball.
You could ask your DM about changing subclass Tasha's has a section about a way that can be done in game or they might allow you just ot change your character especially if you have only just started playing.
Greatly appreciate the advice my cleric serves a god of cursed & ancient forging techniques, I understand exactly where you’re coming from with the classes not geling together. (Suboptimal and all that, and trust me it goes against everything I would normally do when creating a character #powergamer)
I’m looking at planning my route to level 20 so I know where I’m going so at present this is more of a thought.
I’ve asked my DM if I could swap out a few spells to a reply of “not at the moment” so in order not to complicate his life I was looking for a work around, as I said I just feel the class could be enhanced with a few more fire spells but I guess that’s a matter of opinion 😂
Just fancy being able to cast some big bad fire spells when the time comes. I’ll keep looking to see if I can find a way to acquire the spells.

I'm actually the same I had great fun casting fireball with my light cleric, in tier 2.
If you are multiclassing of course you will get the spells much later and this big fire spells are much less useful when you hit later levels. At level 5 fireball can turn a combat possibly being enough to wipe out the minions and leave you with just the boss. At level 10 you are nearly always better off using your 3rd level spots for things like spirit guardians and dispel magic.

A wildfire Druid would get you some of the spells, and still be wisdom based.
And, as a Druid, you’d qualify for a Staff of Fire.
