First time posting. I’m back playing my first DnD game after 15 years ago. 5e is good. About to start another game and I don’t know all the in’s and outs.
I’m keen to try and make a build with the concept that magic isn’t created, it’s stolen from somewhere else.
Concept Idea:
A cleric that realised in religious training that the Gods were just stealing power from the world and then using it to gain the favour of the people of the world. Nothing is created, only changed from one thing to another. The Gods are just magical power brokers. The power to bring someone back to life is stolen from spells that kill. Healing from pain. Etc.etc
Build Concept:
The two spells that made we want to make this character are “Life Transference” and “Warding Bond”. So I want to make the best character I can around the above concept and including those 2 spells as core spells. Other spells I noticed that work concept wise are “Vampiric Touch” (but it sucks) and “Absorb elements”. Character will start around level 10.
Need Help:
What other spells and abilities are there that fit this concept
What type of character build would you suggest? (I’m currently thinking life domain, but open to anything)
I think you're saying that you want incorporate some world-building into your character creation. Is that right? This would bea question for your DM.
Before I can offer useful advice, would you please explain what stats you rolled and what you want your PC to be doing most of the time? Do you like melee combat? Do you prefer attacking from afar with spells? Do you like buffing the party or cursing your enemies?
Also, which skills would you like to emphasize for this PC?
