Hi there! Looking for some of the usual awesome input.
I’m “designing” an elven accuracy samurai fighter, probably custom lineage for a quicker start, and think I’ve boiled it down to a 17/2/1 (Fighter/Blood Hunter/Hexblade). Is this enough info to ask for advice?
- 2 into BH for the Crimson Rite (1d4) alongside Blood of the Marked (for use of Bonus Action in lieu of Fighting Spirit). Archery Fighting Style allows the fighter to go defense fighting style, or even a 1d6 superiority die (menancing attack probably).
- 1 into Hexblade lock gives the +prof damage curse (30ft range is a bummer), alongside 19-20 for crits.
- Receiving 1 free feat, which I’m leaning towards Sharpshooter.
- 17 starting dex, Elven Accuracy (DEX) feat for 18. Lvl4: Gunner (DEX) for 19 dex, lvl 6: Piercer (DEX) for 20 dex. lvl 8: Fey Touched for Hunter’s Mark x2.
The idea is to go fighter 6, then BH 2, then warlock 1, finishing with fighter. Was wondering if any of you experts noticed I overlooked something or if there’s a more optimized method for a great first round followed by nice sustained damage?
Quick question, have you cleared this idea with your DM first. You cannot get Elven Accuracy if you went custom lineage unless your DM allows it. Another thing I've noticed is you are trying to have a million and 2 things to use your bonus action on when you only need 1 maybe 2 more options to use alongside Fighting Spirit speaking of which that seems to be the only way you have to reliably generate advantage to fully abuse the Elven Accuracy/Sharpshooter combo.
My suggestion is drop the BH and go 3 levels Hexblade. This gives you access to level 2 spell slots, the Darkness Spell which combined with the Devil's Sight invocation gives you a secondary method of generating advantage on your attacks. 3 levels of Warlock also gets you the Pact Boon feature, the benefits of which will require a whole new thread to list lol. Fey Touched for Hunter's Mark is unnecessary as you already have access to the similar if not superior Hex spell from the warlock spell list. I would instead take Bless which is another way to help negate the Sharpshooter penalty while simultaneously boosting a couple of allies.
