Hello!! I am new to playing this class and i was wondering where can I find my grit points?? I don't seem to find them, I checked every tab but I'm still lost, can someone help me please?
Just made a post in the homebrew forum with my list of homebrew gunslinger weapon mods and more. Would love to get some feedback on it and would love to see some other people using them!

I think its really cool, mostly because I was just about to start playing a gunslinger character and was trying to think of stuff like this or other things like grenades. Thanks for coming in clutch and ill give feedback on how they function when I can.
I've been playing a blind air genasi sniper who uses the wind to tell where his targets are.
I have no issues with the class itself, I just feel a little bit more work needs to be done between the player and the DM to workshop weapons and misfire chances. If there was anything that I would like to see it would probably be more magic items specifically rooted towards the subclass, like certain magical weapons - but in a way this isn't vital due to the way you (at least the way I see it) be able to customise your own gear. For example, I tried to build my own unfolding shield, but rolled mediocrely, so I can unfurl it as a bonus action but it has a misfire chance (in the same way as my gun does) of 3.
Is there a way to add a trick shot to this class. Have an idea for a trick shot is like to submit.
If you create a copy of the Gunslinger as a Homebrew sub-class then you can add your own options to the Trick Shots class feature.

Former D&D Beyond Customer of six years: With the axing of piecemeal purchasing, lack of meaningful development, and toxic moderation the site isn't worth paying for anymore. I remain a free user only until my groups are done migrating from DDB, and if necessary D&D, after which I'm done. There are better systems owned by better companies out there.
I have unsubscribed from all topics and will not reply to messages. My homebrew is now 100% unsupported.
when i try clicking on the link to see the class its not there anymore. was it removed?
For some reason it isn't possible to view the Gunslinger on its own page, like it is for other sub-classes and homebrew, but you should still be able to see it as a sub-class on the Fighter page: https://www.dndbeyond.com/classes/fighter#Gunslinger

I'm working on a fire genasi gunslinger whose gimmick is that she generates the ignition for her firearms herself (fire genasi get Produce Flame as a cantrip) - anyone else attempting to fire the weapon will find nothing happens as the ignition is missing.
I want to add a weaker, fire-themed trick shot based on Violent Shot, but am not sure what would be balanced.
Searing Shot Cost: 1 grit point Benefit: Adds ? fire damage to the weapon damage for that shot Downside: Adds ? to misfire score
What seems reasonable? Adds 1d6 fire/0 to misfire? Adds 1d8 fire/1 to misfire? Adds 1d10 fire/2 to misfire?
Comparable damage cantrips: Produce Flame deals 1d8. Fire Bolt deals 1d10.
Violent Shot Cost: 1 or more grit points Benefit Adds 1 weapon damage dice per grit point Downside: Adds 2 to misfire score per grit point

Currently homebrewing the Mistveil Rogue, an elusive infiltrator that can vanish into thin air.

Personally I'd stick to the violent shot framework (use weapon dice) but increase the misfire chance, so it's extra risky at least to start with to counterbalance fire damage being "special" damage.
Part of the fun of the gunslinger is the equipment progression, that's why I went mad on my own version, so even if the misfire is quite high initially (e.g- +4) there should be a way to bring it down through either improvements to the weapon(s), or perfecting the technique of using the innate fire genasi magic to fire them? You should discuss with your DM what progression might look like for the character.

I love it !!! I think that it really depends on what type of campaign the dm is running as to how far you can run with it and the crafting element is amazing just lacking some direction for newer dm's I created the following cos I love the subclass so much.
My friend is running a Curse of Strahd game and he's letting me be a little weird with my character. I rolled up a Warforged Gunslinger, as a sort of robot western Van Hellsing kinda vibe. He uses prototype flintlock technology to fight back against undead specifically. Recently, he's started thinking that maybe he needs more than just his trusted pepperbox Blood & Bone (mostly because it exploded) and he's been thinking about something with a bit more kick to it. I want to stick with the western theme and give him something like the old Colt lever action rifle that came out a couple years after Colts original revolver, so I was thinking about maybe taking the standard musket, changing its ammo capacity to 6, and giving it a misfire score of 5 to compensate for the added ammunition. Does anyone else have any ideas for what I could throw together?
Does anyone know how to alter the number of charges for Adept Marksman, or simply replace the Wisdom requirement for Intelligence instead?
I'm theory crafting a Arcane Trickster 13/Gunslinger 7 character, so using Intelligence for Adept Marksman like Percy de Rolo did would be extremely beneficial (Personally, I would love if it was simply player choice between the two, since either could be an argument for pulling off trick shots).

There's currently no easy way to do this since we can't copy sub-classes so making versions tied to different scores requires fully recreating them.
An easier alternative might be to just give the character a custom feat with an action on it that adds extra uses of Grit? Alternatively you could make the uses scale to Intelligence, and tell them to use only the new action for tracking their Grit points? To do this you need to create a feat, add an action, give the action a reset condition of short rest, then add the number under limited uses (iirc you need to save the action then go back into it before you'll see the limited uses section).

You can find them in features and traits under class features. The grit points are under adept marksman.
OMG!!! thank you so much friend! This helped me out tremendously, have a wonderful day!
No problem

Awesome! I hope you have fun with it if you end up using it all!
for a grenade you could always throw that into the utility barrel and blast away haha! There’s a lot of fun things you can do!
let me know if you have any questions, I’ve only playtested by myself so I might have let some things slip. It seems pretty solid to me though

Hey y’all. I’m playing a Gunslinger in a west march server, and realized something. Y’know how Misfires force you to do a check to fix your gun?
I… don’t know what kind of check that is.
Can anyone help me here? What do I roll for a ‘tinkerer’s tools check’ to fix my gun?
