so using Tashcas, im building a concept build to try just for fun.
so far i have a lvl 4, fighter, variant human for the feat.
TW fighting style, champion subclass for the improved crit, feats are dual weild, and sharpshooter, so i can pull 2 daggers or throwing axes per round and throw.
has as high a dex as str so he can utilize different throwing weapons.
the idea is he can throw twice per round and have improved crits.
Thoughs.. flaws , improvements, somthing im missing ??
Champion's an incredibly weak subclass, you're better off with Battle Master for maneuvers like Quick Toss/Disarming Attack/Trip Attack, Samurai for Fighting Spirit (which works well with Sharpshooter) or Rune Knight for Giant's Might and the Fire Rune.
Dual Wielder is also a pretty weak feat overall, and for this build it's largely redundant. If you have Thrown Weapon Fighting Style you don't need the ability to draw two weapons because you can already draw a thrown weapon for free as part of your attack with it. It does give you the ability to use TWF with javelins, but Sharpshooter lets you throw other weapons up to 60 feet. You probably don't need the extra range, but if it ever comes up, Quick Toss would have you covered since the bonus action from that maneuver doesn't depend on the two-weapon fighting rules. You'd be better off increasing your ability scores or if you're going the Samurai route, playing an elf and picking up Elven Accuracy. Combine Action Surge with Fighting Spirit and throw a bunch of darts rolling 3d20 for each and adding the -5 attack/+10 damage from Sharpshooter.
Considering you need to invest in feats splitting your ability scores between strength and dexterity isn't a great idea either. If you're going all in on Thrown Weapon Fighting Style and Sharpshooter keeping your strength in line with your dexterity doesn't get you much. Just go all in on DEX and invest in CON instead for HP.
Keep in mind you can't use the damage bonus from Sharpshooter with melee weapons like daggers or hand axes. Darts are your only option if you decide to use that feature.
The main reason to go after TWF is if you are looking to maximize # of dice rolls in order to get Criticals. Which is what he is trying to do, which is why needs Champion.
Another option is to get PoleArm Master instead of TWF. Similar benefits.
Honestly, I would consider switching out of Fighter for Paladin or rogue, either at 3rd, 4th or 5th. (4th get the ASI, 5th gets you the Extra attack but that does not stack with Paladin 5th.). A Paladin can Smite at 2nd level, which lets you make the descion AFTER you roll to hit - so you know whether or not you got a critical.
Assuming you go Fighter 3/Paladin+, then at 5th level you can now smite twice on a crit, doing normal damage + 2d8, doubling that smite as well 10% of the time.
If you go Rogue, then you get +1d6 sneak attack every time you hit an odd level, doubling as well 10% of the time.
I personally wouldn't take Sharpshooter if your intended weapons are daggers and handaxes. Guess it's not bad if you don't have anything else you really want to take and rolled well enough to not require an ASI, but there's other options like Piercer from Tasha's especially if you're going Champion.
Addition: You can't smite if you throw the weapon, and even though it's a melee weapon, it becomes a ranged attack. I would second Rogue for nice sneak damage, or even Artificer for returning weapon infusion.
@ Nythain main reason for sharpshooter is to be able to throw 60 ft. potentially a peronal choice but i wanted the range. appreciate the advice.
@mog_Dracov, you got what i was thinking of, and i ddint mention it but i was considering multiclass but wanted to see if i could do it single. basically 2 thrown weapons per attack , statistcally do damage by improving my odds. worst case im in hand to hand with potentially 2 hand axes and dual weild. there was 1 more battle maneuver that would help. appreciate the advice.
@inquisitivecoder, ill have to re look at what your saying about the sharpshooter interaction thats something i didnt catch. but honestly im not looking for the most powerful build, just something that competes with a non min maxed char. appreciate the advice.
