I want to be primarily a monk, but maybe start as Rogue, if that works? We're starting the campaign at level 3
My basic idea is...
Level 1: Swash
Levels 2-4: Monk
Levels 5-6: Swash
Levels 6-10: Monk
Levels 10 and up: maybe take 2 warlock levels for Devil's Sight + hex, besides that, probably just invest more in monk
Does this seem feasible or am I spreading myself too thin in the beginning? To me, it's not important to be suuuuper powerful or anything, I just want to have fun while still being strong enough to hold my own. So it's kind of more about giving myself a lot of fun things to do in combat.
Also, if it's relevant, I'm sort of handicapping myself because I'm determined to play a gnome this campaign, so I'll have 25 speed to start :c
Finally, comment your favorite build for this concept, if you have one!
Monk 6 Rogue 14. Starting at Level 3? IMO I'd just go full tilt into Monk until 6. Then go Rogue for the rest. I wouldn't dip into anything else cause a 14 rogue will have blind sense so you won't need Devil's sight. Once you get the Shadowport at monk 6 your going to get alot of auto advantage ((barring your campaign taking place in consistently lit places)). Unless Swashbuckler is important to you for a character creation the other subclasses might suit you better.
Why do you want to mix Monk and Swashbuckler? What are you trying to do?
One problem with your current approach is that you're really delaying Extra Attack and your first ASI.
I want to be a fast, chaotic fighter who's maybe a tad bit showboat-y.
In regards to your comments on delaying, should I lean more into monk then? Like do 2-6 instead of just 2-4? I really want to get the free disengage that a level 3 swashbuckler gets is the only thing.

If you really only want the Swashbuckler for the disengage you'd be better off going full Shadow Monk and taking the Mobile feat at level 4. It does the same thing and more and you'd get it quicker and not lose out on any Monk abilities. Would also help offset your lower speed as a gnome.

I agree. I would really suggest going mostly full Monk with Mobile or full Swashbuckler.
Rogue and Monk are designed to go up in power incrementally. Rogues build up their Sneak Attack dice and Monks build up their Ki points, Martial Arts die and need to increase 2 to 3 different ability scores. Going middle of the road on both classes just leaves you mediocre at both, and there's no super useful interactions between their features. You can't Sneak Attack with unarmed strikes, and while going all the way up to 5th level Monk gets you an extra chance to Sneak Attack every round, you're losing 3d6 on every Sneak Attack. Two-weapon fighting already gives you 2 chances to hit anyways.
If you do choose to multiclass 1 or 2 levels into another class, I'd put it off until you hit 5th level on your main class.
Seems a fun strategy... Your character can specialize in isolating individuals for the greatest effect. You get SA as a regular rogue (advantage or an adjacent ally) and when isolated against a foe with swash. So, you find the isolated individuals in the battle, shadowstep, attack with advantage, and two attacks and a SA. His buddy comes to help him? Find your next victim, shadowstep, repeat. Pair with mobile to avoid AoO.

you could go Drunk monk and Swashbuckler and make a Jack Sparrow character.
