It’s actually super easy to get the incapacitated condition as stunned grants it... So a level 5 Mercy Monk can do a lot of damage with great Ki efficiency:

You generate what the mask looks like. You don't have to just take the few they put in there for somebody to quick make one and move on. You don't need to use something on the list or even consider it more than a few possible ideas so they don't really need more mask options when your creativity is what limits it in the first place.
I was doing some test combats today and my Way of Mercy Monk rolled a critical on their Unarmed Strike and wanted to spend a Ki point to also deal Hands of Harm damage. Would you say that the Hands of Harm damage also gets doubled since the triggering attack was a critical, or is the decision to use Hands of Harm separate enough to warrant that it does not and can never receive the benefits of rolling a critical attack?
You would also apply the effects of the Critical to the damage dice part of Hand of Harm.
You technically apply hand of harm before you roll any of the damage dice. So it would be making the attack roll, then you apply hand of harm because it's triggering effect is hitting regardless of critting or not (assuming you haven't already applied it that turn), Then you roll damage dice and if necessary apply the effects of having a critical hit to those dice.
I like the way of mercy monk. Never read the UA but one issue I have is why the mask? They make it a class feature at level 3 and then it plays no part in the character at all. It could have just been flavor text at the beginning of the class description and left at that
wizkids released a plague doctor mini in one of their most recent waves. I think it came out around july/august? came with a cultist i think. actually, for me, the cultist figure ended up working for my WOM monk as the face is partially masked too. i often Dr. Frankenstein my minis, attaching heads to bodies that are more applicable too which ill probably ultimately do with the plague doctor.
i love WOM monk, been playing one since June '21. I'm not into crazy optimization so I'm not as high level or optimized as I could be since I multi-classed with college of spirits bard. He's kind of like the stereotype charlatan snake-oil salesmen who spent much of their life in a carnival environment with nomadic like people (very much like vistani) after being saved/kidnapped as a child as he had inate healing abilites (aasimar) and was used/abused as a savior-sibling. it's a crazy awesome class to play and am so glad i took a chance since i was hesitant to play a monk but the flavor of the subclass was perfect for the character i wanted.
I'll say one thing, Way of Mercy + either a dip into Warlock or taking the Magic Initiate: Warlock feat, specifically for Hex, is so worth it for the look on your DM's face at how many dice you can potentially roll for damage in a single turn.
3-4 hits, 1d6 additional damage per hit, plus Hand of Harm thrown in (later on for free if you do Flurry.) It's like you're doing one of those attack a thousand times in the blink of an eye sort of deals every time you attack. Quite fun!
Why has this thread been necro'd when all the conversation before this point was on the UA Mercy Monk rather than Tasha's?
Hence the above, was a different feature back then.
Thanx for the clarification. Sorry for ruining the fun...
No, familiars deliver spells but ki abilities aren't spells
Anyone seen good minifigures for Way of Mercy - maybe a plague doctor mini
