I know people hate this combo, but I'm trying to build out a sorcadin and I'm needing some guidance on how to go about it. I'll most likely going to be using point buy for stats. Ultimately I'm looking at pally 6/ hexblade 1/ divine soul 13. I'm thinking about starting pally and then taking the dip in warlock for cha. Is this a good start and if so should I build more paladin or start going sorcerer?
If you want something less warlock dippy then may I suggest the humble Mountain Dwarf Sorcadin that I have lovingly named Sir Hugsncrits.
You go Mountain Dwarf using Tasha's option to move racial bonuses around and with point buy ending up with STR 17 (15+2) DEX 8 CON 14 INT 8 WIS 10 CHA 17 (15+2)
Level 1-2 Paladin, gets you all your early Paly goodness like divine smites, heavy armor, spellcasting and a fighting style.
Level 3-11 Sorcerer, important things to grab here are the Hold spells (Hold Person and Hold Monster), Booming Blade and/or Green Flame Blade and Quickened Spell Metamagic.
For your ASIs I would do nothing fancy just +1 STR +1 CHA with the first ASI and +2 STR with the second one. Combat is basically Quickening your Hold spell and whacking the poor sod with a Booming/Green Flame Blade that has advantage and auto crits if it hits which of course means you should throw in a divine smite as well.
Progression after level 11 is probably taking Paladin to at least 6 for Extra Attack and the save aura leaving the last 5 levels for you to decide what to do with. For me personally I would maybe take Paladin to 8 for another ASI and possibly go Fighter for the last 3 levels for Action Surge and some subclass goodness.
