My Paladin was left to die in Bryn Shandar in the slums of the cold northern city. He was found by preists belonging to the Temple of Tyr. They took him in and raised him and his sister in the temple. Growing up was training to become a Templar of Tyr, meant to uphold the values of justice and everything that was right in the world. But everything changed when he came back home to see his family after his long years of training.

From the darkest dungeons, to the brightest mountaintops, there is always a little lore to learn along the way.
In the Light, we gather to empower our brother. In its grace, he will be made anew. In its power, he shall educate the masses. In its strength, he shall combat the shadow. And, in its wisdom, he shall lead his brethren to the eternal rewards of paradise.
Paladin of Conquest has always had my eye since the UA came out, and I'm just hoping on a refined version in some source book. From a thematic and from an RP aspect, I really want to try it out. I'm not too solid on how it stacks up vs. the other Oaths mechanically, but I still have hope.
From what a friend of mine has told me, it needs just a tad of fine-tuning but he had crazy fun playing as one.

Guess I'm a homebrew Paladin. There's far too many things you can't save/do/fight or die for under the basic choices.
Oooh, could you share the specifics? :D more details please!

You are free to do :) I you want, you can help me to further improve it :D My mainproblem is the lv 7 aura right now :D
Might make another Homebrew thread where everybody can share their own!

I didn't create the Oath myself you can find it here. I just found it worked well with my Paladins backstory. Interestingly there's no Deity, which is starting to make things harder than I originally thought it would. However he is the type of fun I was looking for. If you want more info read on. Our campaign is set in our DM's homebrew world dealing with a secluded area after an all powerful storm. Sea levels have buried a large part of the land mass and creatures have adapted to this. My Paladin himself is a Sea Dwarf, and here is his backstory.
Playing my first Paladin, Oath of Vengeance. He is a orphan Black Dragonborn raised by humans, who hunt evil Dragonborns. So I play Lawfully Good, but if there's a Dragonborn in the fight I go in to a frenzy and make rash choices. Makes for a good story so far.

Reminds me how Dragonborn were the go-to race for paladins in 4e. Great story element!

I enjoy my Oath of the Crown Hill Dwarf, played like an MMO-style Tank. Throwing in the Protection fighting style, a shield and then taunt your way to success! More often than not I've been using the Dodge action rather than attacking once getting focus, letting allies deal the damage.
The thing is since they took away the whole "can't have powers without a deity", paladins have depended on special "oath" divine magic. Your zealousness and determination to stick to your tenets grants you awesome power.
Thus, it can be construed as Oathbreakers wielding the negative aspect of Oath divine magic. The power of being forsworn, abandoning one's tenets and breaking the holy oath you swore by. It empowers you in all the "wrong" ways, in the eyes of a good or lawful paladin.

Oathbreakers seem to hold little sway in the polls. I use them a lot. Not only is it fun to be evil, you get some really good 20th level abilities, which turn you into a perfect BBEG. As for Vengeance, it personally lacks a bit mechanically, and Devotion makes you basically a [redacted]. Ancients is fun and some of the mechanics are just amazing.
I like the UA redemption paladin. I felt the other paladins were too combat based? Imo paladins and clerics needed an option more tailored to the "trying to save everyone" archetype.

For my attack I will throw my spear...two handed...for 1d8...

Yeah it seems like that would be quite a cool homebrew idea.
I am doing my first paladin and i chose vengeance which has been really fun, and i love how you can be sort of an anti hero type character.

I am playing the Treachery UA oath and loving it. It provides a nice way to have paladin skills plus be a more evil or self-serving character
I chose Oathbreaker because I like evil. It's kind of sad that you can't be an evil paladin without breaking your oath though.

Just an average metalhead who plays DnD in his spare time.
PbP Character: Roberta Thalan, Void Beyond the Stars Otherside
PbP Character: Primus Eidolon, Eotha 2
PbP Character: Usmor Illiqai, Tomb of Corrosion
PbP Character: "Templar" Danver, You're the Villains
Homebrew stuff
