Was thinking about campaign I am due to play in soon. I can play the spellless (ua)or normal Ranger and don’t know which to pick. Wondering if a Hunter with 1 level dip of war cleric would be decent/good. It seems like a decent dip because of wisdom sharing and adding extra spellcasting to either variant plus adding more chances for sharpshooter and hunters mark. Any feedback would be great I also would like some advice on which options from Hunter are good for a ranged (longbow) Ranger or if I am better playing a gloomstalker or fey wanderer over the Hunter

And you run, and you run
To catch up with the sun, but it’s sinking
And racingaround
To come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way
But you’re older

I've done a dip for ranger cleric and it's fine in 2014. Rangers really like slight boosts to casting. Rituals alone make most casting dips work. Getting sanctuary is great for pets that don't fight. Horses, poison harvesting companions, potion dumpers(may need limbs)
The real key is just understanding ranger features. If not using Tasha's fe and ft choices need to be made smart.(also can be mixed and matched. ive seen every combo at least once)
Gloomstalker is usually too good Imo. Generally it either breeds resentment or becomes boring. In campaigns where dark fighting is rare it becomes a little more tricky fun to create zones of benefits.
Horizon fey wanderer is more "face" and really benefits from summon tactics. Not for everyone but can be fun.
Hunter is generic. Some choices are way more useful than others check with your dm or choose the optimal ones.I haven't played hunter in a while otherwise I'd specify but i think start with colossus slayer. Guides are out there if you want more. Solid base framework.
Honestly beasmaster or swarmkèeper are my favorite subclasses. Still most work if you just pay attention to your build.

Cheers that’s just what I was looking for. I’m using the spwllless ranger from UA because it’s a campaign where magic users get hunted and burned alive and generally my characters try to avoid that
