Can someone help please?! I'm new to D&D, joining my first campaign and I'm trying to create my character.
I want to be a rouge and the only subclass it will give me in creation is thief but that doesn't suit my character or the campaign I'm joining. I was hoping to be a swashbuckler but I can't find a way to get that option.
Are you joining a campaign on DDB? Someone in the campaign may be able to share content with you so that you don’t have to buy it yourself, at least until you decide whether it’s worth investing in your new hobby.
For reference, the Swashbuckler is from the sourcebook "Xanathar's Guide to Everything". If your DM has that, they can share sources with players in their campaigns.

Only if they have a master subscription though.
Another option is to make it with the homebrew tool as long as you have access to the subclass for a book or somewhere. I usually do this for stuff from the PhB, which I have in hardcover but not digitally.
bit late to the party but do you still need to make a swashbucker? I can invite your character to a campaign, then you can select the option from my shared content. That said, buying just the swashbuckler is pretty cheap as well.

Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.

The other subclasses are unavailable because they need to be bought, You are welcome.
What's life without a little war to spice things up? Anyone who worries about the little things should notice the bigger picture.
I am (As drummerboy stated) The master of many faces, The unseen puppeteer, The illumination, & The unnoticed influence.
Favorite games series: Dark Souls. Shirtless Solaire. Best best game series of all time: Paper Mario. Fight me about it.
