Insofar as I can tell, the rules are silent with respect to stealth speed in combat (per round). Whereas by the minute, hour, day there is a table in the PHB that indicates that able to stealth is an effect of moving slow - that effect is not indicated with normal or fast speed. The 9th level Rogue ability (Supreme Sneak) allows rogues to gain advantage while stealthing if they are moving less than half of their normal speed in that round. Thus, it appears a character can stealth at full speed round by round, but cannot when moving in increments of a minute or greater.
The group and I have been playing that stealth requires 1/2 speed since D&D next. Now, I'm shifting to full speed while stealthing because I cannot see a rule that says rogues cannot. It came up last week and we discussed the logic and synergy/harmony between other rules and so forth. Logic aside, does anyone have a clear rule on this issue?
Indeed Stealth in combat does not require a reduced speed. Although, if you move while in Stealth mode you might give away your position and so you are not hidden anymore.
There's a huge difference between stealth during combat and stealth while travelling over large distances. Stealthy travelling involves the entire party - including non-stealthy PCs and any animals travelling with you - making minimal noise and being as visually inconspicuous as possible. It also means covering up any tracks that you leave and any signs of overnight camp.
I hear you - and I suppose it is fairly easy to put forth logical argument in favor and against each position - but what if you're a party of 1 and how can you coverup tracks that you left when the duration is 1 minute? I suppose my point is that the rules, as to this issue, are not clear and evidently somewhat dichotomous.

The bigger question (in my mind) is: Can you Dash? Do you have to use the Hide action?
Hiding in combat does require the Hide action. Nothing prevents you from dashing.
