For our next campaign, I want to play a whisper bard/ assassin rogue multiclass. I intend him to be a secret agent type of character, and will mostly fight meelee/ with a crossbow.
Originally, I was planning on a 14/6 split, but now I am not so sure anymore. Would a 16/4 split be better? I don't care so much about the second expertise, but uncanny dodge seems really good. On the other hand, 2 extra Bard levels would give me 8 level spells, more psychic blades damage and earlier access to spells etc.
Do you think, uncanny dodge is worth the extra investment?
further info:
race: Changeling (UA)
Stats: str 8, dex 15, con 8, int 14, wis 10, cha 15
Starting Level: 5
End Level: 20 (first time we want to play to the end)

If you're going to be mostly melee, uncanny dodge can greatly reduce the damage you take.
You might also want to consider almost any other rogue subclass unless you're reasonably certain you'll get surprise on a semi-regular basis.
