I appreciate many of the changes made to the sorcerer class in the 2024 PHB. However, while the class is arguably the foremost caster of spells involving saving throws, I have reservations about its capability against enemies with legendary resistance. The class's spell list is overwhelmingly focused on "save vs." spells and particularly instantaneous damage spells requiring saving throws. With few exceptions that I can see, the class lacks means to deal with legendary resistance, such as wall of force, forcecage, or the various Tasha's summons spells. (Some but not all subclasses do have access to some of these spells.) Even its ability to amplify buffs such as haste and polymorph took a hit in the new PHB.
I would be curious to hear others' thoughts on tactics available to the 2024 sorcerer to deal with legendary resistance (other than the obvious ones based on subclass).
Sorry, its probably a bit late but i do think the sorcerer is more than prepared for legendary resistance for a couple of reasons. 1, innate sorcery increases your save DC, for when the bosses legendary res runs out. 2, a lot of save spells still deal half damage on a success. 3, bosses usually only 3 legendary resistances and with sorcerer's able to impose disadvantage on saves, those are going to get burned up pretty quick. So although you will have to expend a few resources, it is a boss and you'd probably be doing that anyway.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Imagine a sorcerer riding a catoblepas into an epic battle to the last minute of black-heart by two steps from hell.
That's basically whats going on inside my head.
