for dipping id usually say hex blade, for a artificer I' not sure how much they would gain from that since you already get medium armor and shields and its doubtful Charisma is your primary stat anyways. Without knowing more I'm not sure if any thematically tie into your character well. Mechanically maybe genie It is generally okay for a dip but imo the best if you stick with it long term. Its damage boost once per turn is tied to your proficiency bonus so your charisma doesn't matter and the utility of a giant storage room is there for anyone and for a artificer it might be very thematic to effectively have a secret lab. And if your dip was artificer and you are going all the way as a lock I think genie is the best sub class for that though Fiend is pretty close. Which also might work thematically if your going for a infernal machines concept.
100% Genie, no contest! Pact of the Chain. You can choose between one of four and get access to a lot of different spell choices because of that. The utility with safe spot in vessel, free flight, safe spot in vessel for entire team, then eventually Wish. That depends on how many levels you put in, obviously.
I would have added a poll, but it seems the Hexblade gets all kinds of attention, and you would likely have been told to go Battlesmith/Hexblade. This basically takes advantage of the customization that comes through invocations naturally with the Warlock class, and people just wanting to go martial because so few spell slots.
I mean there isn't really a bad choice; while Great Old One's 1st level feature (telepathy) is a bit situational (so you might not get much out of the patron until later, though it has some neat added spells), and The Undying is a little weird mechanically, neither is a bad patron, and Warlock is an all round solid class. You could play as a Warlock for every single one of your characters and they could still end up playing very differently; I've also used Warlock dips in multi-classing a few times, and never chosen the same patron twice for it.

This is exactly why I love them so much!
- I can choose this game I want to play a front line tanky melee Warlock. Hexblade (pact of the blade) and build my invocations around that.
- I want to be a support that can heal and keep my allies safe during combat. Celestial (pact of the talisman) and build my invocations around that.
- Next time I think I'll focus on battlefield control and blasting. Undead (pact of the tome) and build my invocations around that.
- Hey how about my favorite, damage and utility. Genie (pact of the chain) and build my invocations around that.
It gets so much better when deciding to multiclass because I can always discover some synergy to make something completely new and wild really fun. I find a way to bring up Warlocks in just about every forum thread I post in. and build my invocations around that.
As the title says.
I'm multiclassing my Artificer with a Warlock and I'm just looking for inspiration.
Thx for viewing.

for roleplaying/flavor purposes w/ artificer,
genie immediately makes sense to me, being the most merchant-y seeming, i just think the flavor works. vessels being objects.
fiend plays nice. it's one of the best powergaming patrons and i dunno, "infernal machine" is something mad scientists yell a lot.
