Hey, everyone. I just recently join a new group and we've decided to run a game where we all get shipwrecked on an island and need to figure out how to escape. We're starting at level 1 and I've decided to play a half-elf Fathomless warlock (planning to go Pact of the Chain). I could really use some help deciding on my patron. I know that they should be some form of sea creature (big duh there, I'm a FATHOMLESS warlock) and I'd like them to NOT be evil. I'd prefer a good-aligned patron, though I guess neutral could work, too. Any ideas for what/who my patron could be?
Your patron could be something like a mermaid who wants you to bring them shiny objects. Or you could go for Deep Sashelas, whos the elf god of the sea with a Chaotic Good alinment as well as a dolphine as a symbol (source:PHB)
My fathomless is following an ancient angler fish who saved me from a storm I was caught in. I think that the fish was sent by the god of the sea (he wasn't) and believe that I am a paladin on a holy mission (I'm not)
If I were to make a more straight forward good character you could get stranded on an island only to find that the island is in fact an ancient sea creature. I'm thinking Reef Back but you could draw from the world turtle myths or a giant whale

First question: did you make your pact before getting shipwrecked, or after? Or even during the storm that wrecked your ship? Those all suggest different directions you could go

Active characters:
Carric Aquissar, elven wannabe artist in his deconstructionist period (Archfey warlock) Lan Kidogo, mapach archaeologist and treasure hunter (Knowledge cleric) Mardan Ferres, elven private investigator obsessed with that one unsolved murder (Assassin rogue) Xhekhetiel, halfling survivor of a Betrayer Gods cult (Runechild sorcerer/fighter)
Could go with a Kraken who lies at the deepest depths of some oceanic crevasse, using it's minions (Warlocks included) to explore and experience the wider world. Not evil or good, but true Neutral as you mentioned. Simply an immensely powerful being with a great curiosity of the world beyond the depths. Offering pacts to those lost or even travelling the ocean opens windows to lands all around.

How about a Leviathan?
Canto alla vita
alla sua bellezza
ad ogni sua ferita
ogni sua carezza!
I sing to life and to its tragic beauty
To pain and to strife, but all that dances through me
The rise and the fall, I've lived through it all!

My first thought when they introduced the Fathomless was The Luidaeg. Luidaeg | October Daye Wiki | Fandom
Godzilla is a sea monster of nigh-infinite power.
Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
