I loved one of the new monsters in it so much that I decided I would use it as a motif for a D&D character. I'm dropping her into a session that's already got Lvl 6 Characters which means I can basically go nuts.
I chose a Simic Hybrid with 3 Levels [Lurker in the Deep Warlock] and 3 Levels into [Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer], but now that I've pulled together the mechanical part of the character, I'm having a rough time with the backstory.
So far all I've got is that a Kraken (or some other tentacled underwater entity) was the first entity to talk to her when she gained consciousness inside the laboratory deep underwater where she was being grown in a vat. The entity goes on to tell her about the outside world and tells her that if she makes a pact with it, it'll give her the strength to develop faster and escape and reach the surface. She agrees, its pact mutates her, and she breaks out and escapes to the surface.
The problem is that I don't know what a Kraken would get out of letting her live, or of any other possible Patrons aside from a Kraken.
Krackens actually like having slaves and servants to do its bidding. You can think of them as squid wizards, they are always experimenting and such. A warlock to the kracken could gather more followers/test subjects and materials for it.

Look for MrRhexx in youtube he made a video about krakens.
Krakens in general are evil selfish, tyrannical creatures who want nothing more than to be the rulers above all and have a lot of servants (like most evil creatures in dnd....) so the kraken might have formulated a plan and you are the key for it. You can leave some details for the DM to fit in their campaign.
