I'm going to be joining a friend's level 5 game soon, and I want to run a Glasya tiefling dexterity fiend bladelock. Hex is an obvious choice, but I can also go for TWF using shadow blade. Eldritch blast is my ranged backup option with Lance of Lethargy and Grasp of Hadar coming at later levels.
What other concentration options can/should I consider, and how do they compare?
Did you take Devils Sight? If so, consider Darkness. It is a very potent combo for Bladelocks.
Vampric Touch is a favorite of mine. One of the few ways for a Warlock to regain hit points. Although, I would put this spell below Hex and Darkness in order of usefulness.
Faerie fire as it gives you advantage. Very useful. Only for archfey though.
As great as the archfey patron is, I was told our game would be combat heavy. This led me to pick either the fiend or hexblade, and flavor-wise I prefer the fiend.

My current invocations are Armor of Shadows, Improved Pact Weapon and Thirsting Blade, so for me (and my party!) darkness is not much better than fog cloud. My gripe with vampiric touch is that it requires me to use my action to use it, where I could use the Attack action instead and rely on the temporary HP my patron gives me.
hold person is great. Mirror image was helpful for me to boost my defensive capabilities without concentration.
Hold person is great against humanoids, but I don't know what we'll be up against. If we don't go up against those, it'll be a flop. I love mirror image, though! In fact, I already have it on my spell sheet.
In response to a combat heavy campaign, archfey can be very good. Take minor illusion, distract the enemy. Then get advantage on attacks from faerie fire. And then again eldritch blast. And a bow would be cool, especially for an archfey. What race are you? Misty step from eladrin means you can jump in and out of combat. And weapon proficiency, as well as extra dex, is very useful. Bow for pact weapon would be useful as you could have high dex and can be away from combat. Pick up shadow blade for when you have to be in melee. And buy a shortsword as you have proficiency with it and can use dex. A good melee feylock.

I am going to be playing a Glasya tiefling, mostly for the stats and flavor but also partially for the spells. I'll edit the opening post to show this.
I was planning on carrying a scimitar for the pact weapon, but the beautiful thing about it is that the weapon can change on the fly. Minor illusion in some cover, then swap it while heavily obscured. I forget if it comes with ammo, though.
Edit: Looks like it doesn't come with ammo, so a quiver and arrows are needed; bummer, but not a deal-breaker.
