so I’m playing a hexblade next time I can play a character. Planning on going to level 3 and then going into another class, here are my ability Scores in order. 8 14 12 14 10 and 16.
trying to confuse and control enemies. So sorc dip or naw. If so I’m doing shadow sorcerer.
I very much enjoy my Warlock (Hexblade/Tome), especially after my one-level dip into Shadow Sorcery; not counting the Tome, I went from two spell slots and two cantrips to four spell slots and six cantrips. Plus the darkvision. Strength of the Gravy was just extra.
Why hexblade at all to control and confuse? While I /do/ advocate for MCing into other classes as warlock mains, what's the goal of the MC? if you're looking to control and confuse, I would think that sorcerer spells bring a great deal, and hexblade does not bring much at all...so why bother with it. How do you envision your battles unfolding; I must be missing something here.

Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.
Taking first level as Sorcerer will give you constitution proficiency, an extra four cantrips, and two extra spell slots (so you can use Shield). Since the level 20 Warlock feature isn't really worth anything (even if you get that high) you're losing nothing. To be honest everything beyond level 9 (where you get your fifth level spell slots) is basically redundant. Maybe level 12 for the Lifedrinker invocation... but even then three levels in sorcerer are probably better.
Level 9 also gives you five invocations instead of four. Is that a big deal? I don't know.
8 Hexblade 12 Sorcerer gives you five ASIs, where 9/11 gives you four, so that's another consideration.
For myself the most important invocations for a Hexblade (assuming Pact of the Blade) are Agonizing Blast, Improved Pact Weapon, Thirsting Blade, and Eldritch Smite. You can get all those by level 8, so I'd probably go 8/12 Warlock/Sorcerer.
Sorry for a late reply, to control and confuse as in during spells the minor illusion and stuff like that and using misty step to move around the field and trying to lure them in so the other party members can hit them, hexblade is for backstory purposes and I think it’s is just a cool patron
Honestly warlock in general doesn't seem like a good fit for that role.

You get Higher Warlock levels for the Invocations and at least get 3 Pact Slots, 4 in a perfect world, but thats allready like lvl 17.
And don't underestimate Lifedrinker, basically giving you 2X CHA on your weapons attack is a huge deal for a Gish.

Kain de Frostberg- Dark Knight - (Vengeance Pal3/ Hexblade 9), Port Mourn
Kain de Draakberg-Dark Knight lvl8-Avergreen(DitA)
That's also true.
