Please forgive me if this is something that is already able to be done as I've just invested in the D&D Beyond ecosystem with the PHB and Xanathar's, so maybe I'm just missing it. I created my Hexblade Warlock with Pact of the Blade, so I am able to summon a weapon and use my CHA modifier instead of STR or DEX. However, I would like to reflect this in my D&D Beyond character sheet as far as attack and damage modifiers are concerned, and can't find a way to modify the weapons I've added to use CHA for damage and attack rolls. I added 2x battleaxes as I chose the dual wielding feat, and the DM agreed that it was OK to conjure 2x pact weapons if I chose that feat (not sure if that's specifically allowed, but the DM at least agreed it was alright).
So I guess in short, Is there a way to change the ability modifier used for any given weapon added to my D&D Beyond character sheet? Or is this something that would need to be added somehow in the future? Thanks in advance!
Thanks for the quick reply, yes I did see where I could manually adjust the values there though was hoping for a nice, automated adjustment as my character levels up. Glad to hear that the new version will support it when it comes out, look forward to trying it out!
There should be an option to use CHA instead of STR or DEX for weapons, but the only current workaround for this common case is to customize the weapon's bonus.
Public Mod Note
(Stormknight):
Post moved to this thread, as it is the same topic
Simply go to the Actions tab, click "Manage Custom" -> add new action -> weapon. This will create a "Custom Action 1". Simply click it, and select "Natural" attack type, Melee range, at CHA as stat. On "activation type" remember to select "action" so it shows up correctly with other attacks, instead of at the bottom of the page in the "other" category.
The only difference I can see is that you can't select the traits of the weapon (such as Versatile, Light, ...), but at least it only takes a second.
Actually, there is a simple way to do it: Just click on the weapon under the "action" tab and select "Hex Weapon", it will change the stat from STR to CHA.
Just did that with a light hammer.
EDIT: I can't do it with a greatsword, are there some restriction on using it as a pala1 hexblade1?

EDIT2: nvm, I need improved pact weapon for that!
The posts from March of last year were from before that option was added. Then some guy necro'd the thread asking if there was a way to do it in general (without hexblade).

The Hex Warrior specifies the weapon must lack the two-handed property. That is why the greatsword will not work.
I am having a ton of issues with this on my sheets still using random modifiers for attacks and damage modifiers. Some of which are not even possible with any of my modifiers. It doesn't allow me to change my STR/DEX when it is finesse or thrown weapons. It even seems to change the damage mod for the different type of usage when it is versatile (ie Longsword 1h: 1d8+4 & 2h: 1d10+2). Anyone have a solution other than editing each individual weapon attack, cause that is super inelegant and annoying?

Everything is working for me as well as it did back in 2019.
It has happened for me on homebrew and official items. It's really weird. Sometimes it will just not recognize when a weapon can use EITHER Str or Dex but other times it will use niether of those and I don't understand why or what mod they are even using. . .

Wait. Do you perhaps have the dueling fighting style?

Hi there,
unfortunately the current character sheet doesn't automatically work out the pact of the blade feature.
You can manually customise an attack though (see image below):
Added bonus - the team are hard at work on a major revamp of the character sheet, so I hope we get to see full support in the new version. :)

Hi Dyllon,
as above, this will be resolved with the new, overhauled character sheet.

Thanks for the reply, I am using the workaround already and just wanted to let the team know since it is quite annoying.
Has there been any update to allow a normal STR based weapon use another Modifier?
Example, using CHA for a magic spear instead of STR?
No. It is hard coded into the class feature. Might have to wait for hombrew update.
There is a way to do it, although it is tedious.
You can create a homebrew weapon to use charisma (or any other stat) instead of its base stat. I've published a "Charismatic Longsword" as an example:https://www.dndbeyond.com/magic-items/841010-charismatic-longsword
[EDIT] Welp, there's a much simpler way to do it.
Simply go to the Actions tab, click "Manage Custom" -> add new action -> weapon. This will create a "Custom Action 1". Simply click it, and select "Natural" attack type, Melee range, at CHA as stat. Is there a way to add the "hexblade curse" modifier to damage rolls? (adds your prof bonus to damage)
maybe a button like hex or pact weapon to turn it on and off?
Rob :)
