Quick feedback. I'd love if I didn't basically have to code the character sheet of whatever NPC I'm making. Currently I have to type in [something] [Roll dice] [something]. It's not user-friendly, and its slow. It would be much more accessible if I simply had to click "insert Long Sword" and the whole code following that item would be applied.
i don't know what it is you're asking for. Code what where? There's no coding involved in character creation. You click to add, it is added.
I don't get what you mean by [something] [Roll dice] [something].. There's nothing I can see that needs such things.
"if I simply had to click "insert Long Sword" and the whole code following that item would be applied." -- What code? If you want the character to use a long sword, you can, indeed, just click to add one.

Secuter is referring to using the homebrew system to create NPC statblocks. You have to manually type in code for dice rolling. An "add weapon" menu would be convenient.

Ohhhh
Thanks for that. I do agree that would be neat.

Indeed. It is really inconvenient that when I want to create a unique bandit boss, I basically have to code the entire sheet with weapons, rollables and whatever. The fact that it isn't particularly user friendly kinda defeats the purpose of being able to modify NPC statblocks in the first place, as it is massively time consuming to do so.
I just tried out a site called improved-initiative, which still require to you write it all up, but at least you don't have to code things into brackets and what not.
You only need to do that coding if you want there to be a button to roll on the statblock. If you don't want to do the roll coding, you can just read the bonuses and roll the dice separately, either using real dice or by using the D&DBeyond dice button
Yeah, but the whole "roll button" is a really nice feature of D&D Beyond. It's unfortunate that it's so hard to gain access to in custom made stat-blocks. Other than that: yeah, you are right, that I could just write it up normally, and roll physically/apply the correct bonuses etc.

That's all.
All the best,
Secuter
