I would like to make some items for my campaign that aren’t magical. Like mead, beehive, a different sized land vehicle or an airship. I tried this in the creat magical items function, but because they aren’t magical it won’t let me make it public for my other members. Is there somewhere else I can do this or do I need to do this on paper, ( old school ) haha!
First of all, you don't need to publish a homebrew for your players to be able to access it.
Second, while there isn't a way to homebrew a non-magic item, you can add custom items to character sheets via manage items - custom items. You can add custom names, descriptions, values, and weights. They don't have any mechanical options, so you can't make weapons or armor this way.
*note adding a vehicle to a player's inventory will probably over encumber them.
D&D Beyond's policy on magic item public homebrew is that this facility should be limited to publishing magical items. You are, as always, free to create any homebrew you like for private use by yourself and those you share a campaign with.
As DxJxC states, there is no need to publish any homebrew to use it privately within your own campaigns.
Staff have mentioned looking at a way of allowing the homebrew of mundane items, along with publishing them. I don't know what form that might take though.
