As a DM I most enjoy take a player's character sheet and destroying in front of them once they have died beyond resurrection.
Please add a feature like this to DnD Beyond. I feel this is something my virtual table players are really missing out on.
Maybe with different options for flare:
Tearing it up
Burning it
Dissolved in acid
A Blink Dog eating it
Maybe a synchronized multi-select option for TPKs...
A dead character's sheet should become read-only and still exist for reference, so the rest of the party can loot their stuff. Just put a big red RIP watermark on it!!!
The cosmetic animations are fine, but I do not see any point in making the character sheet permanently read-only, and if features like that gets bugged or something, there is a potential to go horribly wrong. For something as minor as content source control, it is already a constant chronic issue where users repeatedly ask what happened to their purchased content is in the character builder, when all they had to do is to just enable every source toggle. For something more major like permanently disabling a character sheet, that is only going to cause more frustration than fun in my opinion.
Non subscribers also already have limited character slots, and if they want to keep their using their characters after they died for another campaign or whatever, if they maxed out their character slots, it is going to be a pain to juggle around character sheets choosing which to print and which to keep digital.

That seems... rather excessive. If it works for your group and they enjoy it, go for it, but from my experience that’s not how things usually happen with players. Putting a feature like that into the site would be unused by most at best, and used maliciously by bad DMs at worst.

If you did that to mine I'd punch you.
My character sheet is my property. You can say the character is dead beyond resurrection but then it would be up to ME to decide what happens to MY character sheet. Which, in my case, would be to archive it so I have it there as reference whenever I want to wax nostalgic. It's also there as a convenience in case I get to play the character again in a different campaign so I have nice reference material.
Currently on here, if a character is dead and can no longer be used they can simply remove it from the campaign. The player is then free to do whatever they want with their character sheet.

In the Character Sheet Roadmap Dev Update from March of this year, Patrick Backmann describes an on-the-roadmap player experience for character sheets involving death and "immortalization" (effectively memorializing dead/retired characters).

So this isn't a popular suggestion I think.
Altrazin Aghanes - Wizard/Fighter
Varpulis Windhowl - Fighter
Skolson Demjon - Cleric/Fighter
