A quick google search shows that this has been posted, but squeaky wheel gets the grease.
An NPC generator please!
A) Quick Generator - Pull from monster stats to quick make NPCs and give them proficiency (Brewers kit, Blacksmiths tools, etc as the case may be)
B) Quick View - not all NPCs need a full character sheet or all the stats of a monster all the time, but basic stats for interacting with the PCs would be great. And a section for notes so I can remember those interactions when they come back to that town months later IRL.
C) Grouping - Able to tag and filter NPCs by location an affiliations (trade guild, city, loyalty, etc)
D) Search - Able to search NPCs for key words. The number of times I've said "Oh shoot, who sold them the sword of devastation?" Well if I could just search the notes on the NPCs I can find who sold it to them right quick (and the other NPC I forgot is secretly hunting for that sword).
I'm excited to go full D&D Beyond next campaign (few months away) just thinking of what would reduce my use of other notebooks, websites, etc.
There is a planned monster builder tool. It may be a while before it comes out. Find it here to and upvote it to increase its priority. https://ddb.ac/feature-requests
I saw that earlier and upvoted it, and at the heart of it a NPC is just a block of stats no different from a monster. But they're much more often an RP tool than a monster tool.
At the end of the day I don't need the movement, HP, or even most of the six stats. I need to, at a glance, remember that Sampson runs the shop "Sampson's Swords & Swordmitery" in Redwall Keep, sold my players a cursed sword that he didn't know was cursed, likes to call the party's bard Lilly because she reminds him of his daughter, was saved during a gith invasion by our ranger, has a verbal cadence of Sheldon from Big Bang Theory.
Sure, starting with a monster stat block is fine, so if the new guy at the table tries to stab him we can get into it, but 9 times out of ten, need to keep track of all the people that populate the world and what the heck I had them do 8 months ago IRL.
