Hello Adventurer's! I'm hoping you will allow a weary soul to rest his feet by your fire and, potentially, allow him to make a request seeing as you know these lands better than I...
Short Version - Would we be able to have the additional Tool Descriptions from XgtE added to the character sheet when you click/select the tool on the Equipment tab in the Character Sheet?
Long Version - So Xanathar's is one of my favourite source books. One of the highlights for me is the extra detailed Tool Descriptions. As a player, I found it really interesting to find out how you could use the different tools in different situations that may not have been so obvious to me prior to getting the Xanathar Book (and as a DM, I'm too busy trying to remember the rules on Jumping rather than focusing on what the application of Glassblower's Tools can accomplish!).
As a Feature Request for the Character Sheet, can I suggest that these additional Tool Descriptions be added to the Item's info when you click on the appropriate tool set?
For example, when I click on my Monk's Thieves' Tools in the Equipment tab of the Character Sheet, I get this info:
"Weight. 1 lb
Cost. 25 gp
This set of tools includes a small file, a set of lock picks, a small mirror mounted on a metal handle, a set of narrow-bladed scissors, and a pair of pliers. Proficiency with these tools lets you add your proficiency bonus to any ability checks you make to disarm traps or open locks."
In my (hopeful!) addition, it would display this when you click on the Thieves' Tools in the Equipment tab of the Character Sheet:
"Weight. 1 lb
Cost. 25 gp
Perhaps the most common tools used by adventurers, thieves’ tools are designed for picking locks and foiling traps. Proficiency with the tools also grants you a general knowledge of traps and locks.
Components. Thieves’ tools include a small file, a set of lock picks, a small mirror mounted on a metal handle, a set of narrow-bladed scissors, and a pair of pliers.
History. Your knowledge of traps grants you insight when answering questions about locations that are renowned for their traps.
Investigation and Perception. You gain additional insight when looking for traps, because you have learned a variety of common signs that betray their presence.
Set a Trap.Just as you can disable traps, you can also set them. As part of a short rest........

I'm hoping for those people that have bought the XgtE book would find the additonal info really useful - it saves players from having to remember the potential applications of their tools, and it saves DM's from having to open another tab on their already busy internet browser.
Thanks for reading!

The stuff presented in XGTE are optional rules for tools and not core. As such, presenting them in the character sheet might be confusing.
That is fair, but there isn't a single non-optional use for tool proficiencies (besides thief's tools) in RAW. So anything you use it for us optional. It might as well have a few RAW options shown.
This is something that has really bothered me that tools are not given a specific use in the rules, so it is 100% up to DMs to allow them to do anything.
That's the thing; I've found that without the Xanathar's 'expansion' on tools, most of the tools lose a lot of their functionality - I've yet to see a player clamboring to learn how to use Weaver's Tools in the basic game :P .
In my games prior to Xanathar's, the only tools that ever saw the light of day were always Thieves Tools for the usual stuff, Smiths Tools to repair/enhance weapons and occasionally Woodcarver's Tools for the odd bit of wooden creations/patch work.
Of course it's up the DM seeing as it is optional rules; I personally would have found it easier to have the option of adding it to the character sheet. Alternatively I suppose they could just be made as a Homebrew Item with additional notes :)
