Hi. These days Heroforge is undergoing big chances, adding colored-minis but maybe more importantly adding more options for creating images. I saw on your roadmap that some form of portraitmode was on the longterm roadmap and I would just suggest considering integration with Heroforge to get most of that quickly, but also giving the miniature-creating functionality which I think could be a strong business case for both parties.
I have actually been making portraits from Heroforge for my characters! I agree, it would be great to have and like you said a great business tie.
For me, designing the mini helps me envision what the character looks like and their characteristics. I design the character the way I want, pose them, zoom into the face as much as possible, then click the Screenshot on the bottom (it is barely visible), then check Cutout, then Download. So all my characters have matching style black and white portraits. It helps to crop the screenshot closer to the face after you download the image, or use an image capture software like Greenshot to "capture a region" roughly in the shape of a square near the face.
Side note, I love my one Heroforge mini. To protect it I took a d6 dice case then used felt pads (with adhesive on one side) to make a padded case.
Edit: I forgot, my avatar photo is what you get! (I think I darkened the image a tad)

And they'll have color soon! My avatar is my gnome witch(warlock). I am in the beta from Kickstarter rewards.
I would second this!
