Yeah so Chromatic Orb gained from the primari background doesn't allow me to change the damage type from acid to anything else. I am new to dnd beyond so maybe I missed something but I am completely baffled why this isn't working. Even trying to customize it doesn't work. Also it doesn't show up naturally in the homebrew spells sections is there a special reason it doesn't so up there?

well, for your second point, Chromatic Orb isn't a homebrew spell so why would it show up in the homebrew section?
And as far as the damage type well... the dice roller doesn't interact with anything? so like- why would you need to change the damage type other than aesthetics on the sheet. just roll the extra dice as needed and clarify to your DM what damage type is being dealt.

Yeah, the * to the right of the damage-roll button indicates that there are additional possibilities or details to the damage amount or damage type.
If you're wanting to have a viewable list of possible damage types, you can click on the spell, open the Customize section, and in the Notes field enter something like "acid, cold, fire, lightning, poison, or thunder". The notes won't be visible on the mobile app unfortunately.
Well I assumed you can copy the spell then change the spell slightly or a lot to your needs which makes it a homebrew. Maybe I am being picky about this but like it matters to me because it is just doesn't make sense. The spell is telling me I can change the damage type however I can not choose from the list. I can tell my DM to make the changes but I dont want to constantly tell them that hey the spell isn't working right so this is what is going to happen. There are several other areas in the spell section of the sheet that dont work as well. Maybe its a feature that the DM didn't check off for us. Any way I was frustrated but it is what it is, besides the awkward spell section everything else is done well!

Only in edge cases, like if you had Elemental Adept feat, would this really matter.
