It seems like 99% of items in the equipment or mundane items tab all claim to be from the basic rules. Even items with a note saying "from Explorer's Guide to Wildemount - chapter ##" claim to be from the basic rules like moorbounder which is the "mount" version for the character sheet of moorbounder. (explosive seed is another one, just in case the moorbounder item version doesn't link correctly.) The only things I've found that don't say basic rules are items that explicitly say (Exandria) in their name like palm pistol (exandria). They say Critical Role.
It lists Basic Rules, because by doing so it becomes free. Which, those are.
There is no singular basic rules source. This site makes one by collating and referencing multiple sources. From a system point of view, anything provided free is part of the "basic rules source", whether detailed on the basic rules page or not.

That makes sense, though it muddies the waters on situations like this one, where the equipment comes from a particular adventure and has a link referencing that adventure. The adventure itself reprints the information on Extreme Cold from the DMG, and DDB provides a link to that part of the DMG from that section of the adventure, but as we see that can confuse people looking at just the Equipment listing.

This EXTREME COLD link in "Clothing, cold weather", Basic Rules, leads to: Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden - Adventures - Marketplace - D&D Beyond (dndbeyond.com). It should link to the DMG Adventure Environments - Dungeon Master's Guide - Sources - D&D Beyond (dndbeyond.com) so that those of us who own the CORE books can get answers. This link should be changed. To me it's just a way to sell a non-core book.
BTW The D&D Beyond search engine has no relevancy in its logic. It simply searches for word occurrence. Will this ever change!?? Hey WotC, fix this.
Technically, the Clothing, cold weather is from Icewind Dale; I'm not sure why it's listed as being from the Basic Rules.

FWIW anyone showing up here this is being fixed Notice of Spring Cleaning May 12th, 2022.
Adventuring gear i.e. mundane equipment is being put where it belongs instead of being referred to as free content under basic rules.
