I'm trying to change the unarmed strike for a homebrew race to be 1d10+STR. I've added a "Damage - Unarmed Attacks" modifier primary stat as STR and Dice Roll as 1d10. When I look at the character sheet though, Unarmed Strike is not showing the 1d10.
The only way round this I've found is to create a separate weapon action.
Similar problem here, trying to make a feat that just changes unarmed strike damage from 1 to a d4, and did it the same was as Moosey, but doesn't work.
As far as I am aware, that is a legacy modifier that shouldn't be used - much of this will be cleaned up when the team do a revamp pass on homebrew.
The best way to implement an unarmed attack on a race is by adding an ACTION that will replace the existing unarmed attack. You can see how this works below.
Add a racial feature.
On that racial feature, scroll down to add an action.
This was my solution as well, not ideal but works, though I also wanted it to be either Dex or Str. So I had to create 2 actions; essentially, '[Action] - Dex' and '[Action] - Str'.
Just to throw a thought out there, adding various type combos to the Ability Score Type drop down would be nice :)
Moving forward, adding actions in this manner is the best way to proceed - it allows you full control over what's actually appearing on the character sheet.
It is however .... complicated, there's no doubt about that.
It is unfortunately a trade off - when the design goals are:
Flexibility - people need to be able to create everything they want. It needs options to cover all possibilities.
Without having list boxes with 200 options to pick from.
There is going to be a revamp of the homebrew entry pages though, which will tidy a lot of this up and make it more usable. Once that's done, we can start producing some quality documentation and guides, safe in the knowledge that they won't be pointless within a few months. :)

Any guidance on where I'm going wrong with this?

At it means we have options.
For the STR or DEX dual option, I'd imagine Boolean-style check boxes might be easier than drop-down options with all combinations.
What does the Martial Arts checkbox do? How does it interact with a non-Monk?
