Has anyone else noticed that if you have the 5e Monk class selected that the martial arts dice align with the new One D&D rules? I get that the martial arts dice starting at a 1d6 is better, but my DM isn't allowing the new rules and having to remember that my dice is actually lower than what is shown is a pain in the butt.
In my case, my 5e monk is level 9 and should have a d6 for their unarmed strike and their monk weapons should deal a d6 unless it's naturally higher. My monk is now showing a d8 for my unarmed strikes and monk weapons.
I and another just tried making a monk at lvl 2 and we both got the wrong martial arts die for unarmed strikes. It displays as one tier above the one it should be. Reloading, readding classes and remaking the sheet all gives the same error.
Same here. I was losing my mind trying to figure out why my multiclassed lvl 5 monk lvl 2 ranger had a 1d8 for both it's monk weapon and unarmed strike. I can confirm this is still an issue 8 days after this original post.
I am having the same problem. Just read and re-read my subclass (Way of Mercy) info over and over again trying to see if there was a reason for the higher MA die when i finally realized that my Hand of Harm and other subclass features accurately show d6, it's just the base monk features (Unarmed Strike, Deflect Missiles, Flurry of Blows) which show incorrectly.

Martial Arts. We don't have a method of disambiguating the Martial Arts granted by the 2014 Monk and the one from the 2024 Monk. As such, all Monks will temporarily match the 2024 Monk's Martial Arts Die until we’re able to fix this.
FYI still not fixed. And, for what it's worth my lvl 16 Monk shows d10s for ALL my attacks: unarmed, spear, and even my dagger which I almost never use. I am _assuming_ the last two are because they are considered Monk weapons(?).

It's correct for the Martial Arts damage die to be applied to Monk weapons, which includes both spears and daggers. The bug is that the 2014 Monk class should show a d8 damage die at that level, but D&D Beyond doesn't yet support having two different Martial Arts damage die progressions.
What's buck-wild is my Way of Mercy monk has the correct die for her Hand of Harm and Hand of Healing, so for some reason this is only a problem with attacks and not all Martial Arts dice.

While I don't know this for a fact, I suspect that's because internally the Mercy subclass features have their own implementation of the Martial Arts die progression that they use, independent of the one used by the main Monk class features. And the subclass stuff is actually part of the subclass internally (so the two different versions of the subclass each have their own) while the class stuff is an independent thing (and the two different versions of the class have to share it).
The fact of the matter is the devs could easily have separated the features entirely but instead tied them together in the back end for no good reason. Making 2024 Monk into its own class instead of a tacked-on version would fix the issue.
2024 monk is its own class, and without any knowledge of their code base, I couldn't say how easy or difficult of a change it actually is. I'd assume not a trivial one, or I doubt we'd be having this conversation.
I'm sure they're regretting whatever original design decision led to this situation now, but hindsight is 20/20 and all. I doubt when it was originally implemented anyone had any idea that there was someday going to be a whole new pseudo-edition that changed the way the Martial Arts die progression worked.
If the two were fully separate on the back end, the two different charts could be maintained without difficulty. The fact of the matter is that the only way this issue comes up is if they tied the two to the same chart in the back end. Just making a second chart for the code (as opposed to just on the table in the class description) would be what fixes the issue.

I have a monk at level 4 and I have “legacy content 2014” checked and it’s still showing 1d6 martial arts dice. Ffs
Can confirm this is an issue for more people.

Having same problem.

Bugged for me too. My level 1 monk has D6's.
When in doubt, go left. And don't get scared, get angry.
It's a known problem with the 2024 PHB rollout. From here: Player’s Handbook - Issues and Support Thread
Over 2 months later, still not fixed. FFS
Still not fixed lol

That's definitely the case, yeah. You can make a homebrew copy of Warrior of Mercy if you want to peek inside and see exactly how it was set up.
