I recently made a Fighter with the archery fighting style but when I equipped both the Revolver and the Hunting Rifle from the 2024 DMG the +2 attack roll bonus was not applied even though those weapons are marked as "ranged weapons". The fighting style worked properly with a long bow and even the other firearms from the 2024 PHB, the pistol and the musket. Additionally, I tested this on a second character and got the same results.
It looks like the problem is that the Revolver and Hunting Rifle are marked as Firearms Ranged Weapon whereas the Pistol and the Musket are marked Martial Ranged Weapon. This may be intended behavior since firearms are quite a bit different than bows/crossbows. It may be that the Pistol and Musket are mis-tagged and should be Firearms, too. If so, the Archery Fighting Style should indicate that it only works with Martial Ranged Weapons (or doesn't work with Firearms). On the other hand, it may be that the Revolver and Hunting Rifle should be marked as Martial instead of Firearms.
Either way, it appears as though the fighting style only works with Martial Ranged Weapons and not Firearms Ranged Weapons.
In the 2014 rules, firearms were considered a separate category of weapons outside of "simple" and "martial". However, the 2024 Player's Handbook and Dungeon Master's Guide both explicitly define them as "martial ranged weapons" — there's no ambiguity in the rules there.
