I'm making a slew of homebrew items and its been going pretty well. The only trouble I'm having is with certain magic items that I want to be able to cast spells. In the magic items menu an item that mentions a spell will actually show the spell description when you hover over it. I've tried using the formula [spellname][/spellname] which is what i figured would make it work. Maybe I'm using the wrong formula? Please help!

I think I have a similar question that qualifies for this thread. How can I add Conjure Volley to a longbow? it doesn't show up in the list when I try to add it in item creation. Are ranger spells not available?

Have you purchased the PHB here? When using the homebrew editors, you can only access spells and other options that are 1) available for free here or 2) that you have purchased here.
Sigh... thats exactly the issue. I hate re-buying books i've had on my bookshelf for years but I guess I'll have to just do it. The price of convenience, eh? LOL

[ spell] [/spell] (with the spell name in between) is the correct formula.

You can also just buy the spell you need.
